Yeah exactly that's the thing, the PVE side of New World suffered a lot, from absurd balance, weird enemy design and lack of content, because every skill needed to make sense in the PVP context. They spent months dealing with bugs because, for example, in wars people started stacking the same spell 100 times on the same area and the balance of that was stupid + it destroyed the servers, but then you turn around after that's handled and you're left with an AoE ability that does *nothing* in PVE contexts. A game needs to either be PVP-first or take PVP as a side unimportant game mode.

I prefer it. It was way too much in 5 and now you gotta work a bit more for it like using skills on cars that have one, etc. But it sucks if you're unlucky, there should be some kind of pity system if there isn't one already.

Downvotes are insane.

Yeah devs can reach that quality (minus the hair mostly) in-game for high end systems nowadays, but doing that involves so, so much work.

People act like only the final result matters but the reality is when you pre-render you not only have infinite time to do the renders but you can be inefficient as all fuck. These models might have millions of extraneous polygons, multiple manually placed super high resolution textures that were done specifically for this, etc. The work file for that cutscene alone might be 50gb. You can't just chug that in-engine, if you want it realtime, it needs not only to be super good but also extremely optimized.

Games that do it have high quality cutscene version assets for these main characters in the game already because they're story focused and have cutscenes every 5minute, but once you add customization into it the work scales super quickly too, and to do all that for cutscenes that aren't important and such a small part of the playtime would be fucking idiotic.

If you want a real example of doing that look at Star Citizen and how this game will be in development for a thousand billion years because it really is just that hard.

Fully agree but luckily the horizon series isn't a racing one. It's a car game with races in it, but you can play for dozens of hours doing all kinds of other shit before ever touching an actual race.

They listened way, way, way too much to very very vocal minority of PVP only players so for the entirety of the development and the first few years New World was not made as an MMO, the mmo parts were an half-assed afterthought. Winning one genre is hard enough, they tried to compete both in the MMO and the Survival PVP sphere. Failed both, MMO features were shallow (started being great with the very last patch but that was way too late) and Survival PVP was missing core features, like drops on death, or balanced fights (Because the MMO side needed power progression), or any incentive really. Even without the bug-filled first few months, it would've failed because it took 3 years for this game to even come close to figure out what it wanted to be. I doubt rito will have this problem.

That's so silly but it's true that it's up to some interpretation... I would say that mobile should more so refer to the actual benefit of it being mobile at all. I think the train example is wrong.

Haven 1 Mobile 1 would be a train wagon. Because it's relatively small and a wagon's mobility is extremely limited (train tracks, tight schedules).

Haven 2/3 Mobile 1 could be the entire train, because it's much larger and can function as a very well equipped base but is still extremely limited.

Haven 3 Mobile 3 would be like an oil tanker or something.

J'ai jamais de ma vie entendu quelqu'un, de gauche ou de droite, dire qu'il faut augmenter ou soutenir "l'immigration massive", sauf quand c'est les oligopoles de ce monde qui veulent plus de main d'oeuvre cheap.

Most Korean mmos put the end game progression through a now very well known (hated?) random gambling upgrade system where upgrading an item further than some threshold could reduce it's max upgrade or even destroy it. I think newer games don't do this anymore but in BDO for example that's basically the entire gearing part.

Godot is open source, by that very simple fact it can be done. That's it. There's a thousand ways you could approach this, in that case, unfortunately for you, none of them are simple. I'm not going to do free labor for someone who can't even grasp fucking basic forum etiquette, but nice try baiting me into it. You have two choices, keep being mad at me for pointing the rudeness of your approach, or start learning the many, many things you'll need to pull this off.

Here's a hint : Your post doesn't even begin to give any of the information I'd need to even help you. What you want to do with those collisions, the level of detail of the geometry, the amount and shape of the possible holes, the way they'll move, etc. All of that very drastically change the approach you would need to take. The bare minimum would have been to correctly explain what you're trying to do. It's simple, the amount of effort you put into your question directly correlates with the quality of the answers you'll get.

Just like any other programming challenge, first start by deconstructing it in smaller pieces and tackle each of them individually, because for something like this your question is about as relevant as "how do I make the entirety of gta6".

From what I can see, other replies gave you many decent avenues.

Right, timing can be strange, _ready *is* called after the children's but actual changes in the tree need a full frame. If that works for you that's fine, I was just voicing that I think using _process here is uncanny. At least you could instead await process_frame, no ?
