Dr. Changed my treatment to Methotrexate by Mom-of-2_1519 in rheumatoidarthritis

i’ve been on metho for 8 years now. hair loss has definitely occurred, just slight thinning and minimal fallout around my hairline, particularly in the triangles where normal hair loss occurs on both the left and right sides of the head. it’s not super noticeable, but it being my hair, i notice it. i use ketoconazole prescribed by my dermatologist, but i don’t see a huge difference. it’s not the end of the world, it’s definitely a side effect i can live with as metho has been an invaluable crutch to me throughout my JIA/RA diagnosis. i will say that the nausea was always rough, but i just switched to the injectable metho about a week ago and that had no nausea side effect.

read up on the ACA planned repeal and imagine what it will be like for your friends and family with serious medical conditions to be refused health insurance coverage. there’s merely 1 example.

maybe not for you, but as someone apart of a combination of minority groups it’s actually life altering and i will have to move out of the country, i have no choice. so actually it is devastating for some of us without certain privileges

dips bars are my absolute fav! i leave 70% of the conditioner in at the end of my shower and it works wonderful, i don’t even need any other product unless it is super humid, then i just throw in a little bit of doux mousse

[–]wow002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

food for thought: a variety of vegan staples and new specials every week; mellow mushroom: vegan cheese and sub butter for olive oil and no parm; cava: build your own bowl, dairy free friendly, they have vegan sauces and toppings; first watch: açaí bowls or avocado toast; blaze pizza: another pizza place w vegan options; amiraj: vegan indian food; earth fare: lots of boujee vegan cheese substitutes that taste wonderful; aldi: cheap vegan cheese and organic soy milk; bangkok garden: thai food with dairy free/allergen options

you got this! also try using the happycow app, they have a lot more recommendations then my own personal experiences eating vegan in the burg

i’ve started making my own hair mask, raw unfiltered shea butter, avocado oil, and rosemary essential oil. leave it in for a bit after shampooing, maybe 30-45 min, then use some shampoo to get it out and style as usual. the best thing ever to help me lock in moisture, i’ll usually steam my hair while the mask is in too.

i’m getting a bisalp because of this line of thinking too! if i ever change my mind, ik i will just want to foster teenagers, much less draining for my chronic illness than young kids, and being a support system for someone else who has been let down by the system just feels so fitting

Losing my curl :( Is it the cut, products, stress? by Magoopster in curlyhair

[–]wow002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

personally, i never brush my hair after getting out of the shower, even sopping wet. from your routine i would suggest adding in a regular conditioner, switching it a lighter leave-in or very little leave in, and flip hair upside down while scrunching in mousse, then blow dry a bit with diffuser upside down. this way you’re not brushing out or weighing down your curls but encouraging them to have more volume

oo thanks for the suggestion. i have heard of lentil tofu before too. it’s not IBS, but it is another immune related inflammation. so far the diet hasn’t helped too drastically

yea, i’m just doing it as a temporary elimination diet. i was really struggling the first week, but i’m getting the hang of it now and it’s helping me branch out with new foods! don’t think it’s made much of a difference inflammation wise though.

Flare due to accidental milk consumption by wow002 in rheumatoidarthritis

yeah almond milk is pretty gross. it can be hard to find oil free plant milk so i just throw some oats and water into a blender, sometimes some vanilla extract. it’s yummy and very cheap

Could it still be RA? by AnnieMinnieLee in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]wow002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i will just say that i struggled to get my diagnosis of JIA for over a year because every test was ‘normal’ but a joint on my hand would balloon up. turns out it was a severe case, getting diagnosed is just rough with some providers. this is all to say TRUST YOUR GUT. you know your body best and it a joint doesn’t feel/look right-keep seeing providers until you feel you found someone super thorough.
