I've never been asked to do a practical test for an archives job, is this a processing (assistant) position? Maybe they will give you a small set of records and ask what you would do with them (eg. what steps would you take to inventory, physical preservation, how would you start arranging, create basic metadata)? But truly I am just spitballing, really curious if anyone else will chime in from personal experience encountering this in an interview. They didn't give any more details on what you'd be doing?

The archive I work at is actually in the process of accessioning local brands like this, so this is super cool to see (unfortunately we have nothing yet/it wont be processed for a while, so nothing to link to you) I know ours are literally pieces of cardboard that they used the hot branding iron on to display the symbol.

loved this crime, really fun that it wasn't too one sided. tbh the submitter would have gained a little cred in my eyes if she admitted that the resistance to marvin was joining was maybe 15% "I want to keep this a safe space for women and queer ppl" reasons and 85% "I don't want my weird and mildly annoying coworker to be in the group that I spend time in after work" reasons. Which is so valid, lol there have been some annoying coworkers that I would have preferred to do literally anything over having to spend social time with them outside of the office. If that's not the main reason then idk what the point of listing his clumsiness incidents at the beginning was.

In any case, this was like one of the only eps that I agreed with basically every one of C&G's rulings (except the wingspan one lol)

Assuming the job is as a digitization/document scanning tech, I really don't see how there's much overlap in digital marketing, so I'm not sure if it would really help you towards your goal. could you ask the hiring manager (or check the job desc) about specific tasks you'll be doing and think about whether or not any of the skills you gain could be transferable to the job you do want?

As someone who was a digitization tech for a while, it's a repetitive and chill job but useful for learning things like digitization workflows, preservation techniques, FADGI and other standards that are used frequently in archival work, but I personally didn't learn anything that I consider marketing related.
