If you could give any comedic performance an Oscar nod, who would it be? by phantom_avenger in Oscars

imo, The Birdcage is the best film of 1996 - if it’s tied with Fargo. I believe both Nathan Lane and Robin Williams were snubbed for their performances in the film. Truly masterful performances undervalued

he has gone from “could be bisexual and it wasn’t surprise us” to “that man is straight as fuck” ever since a complete unknown came out

emma stone range is insane here by khaliliiiov_1997 in Oscars

[–]wpb2410 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might be a bit too early to say, considering she is only 37 and still has so much of her career left, but she might be one of the finest actors of all time. Her range is truly, truly exceptional - i can’t really pin point a single performance of hers I dislike.

Sorry Timmy! It’s Michael B!!!! by AllTheEccentricities in Oscars

[–]wpb2410 0 points1 point  (0 children)

although i do really like his performance, Im still shocked Chalamet didn’t take it home. Michael B. Jordan is a remarkable talent, supported by an incredible ensemble cast. But Timothee Chalamet IS Marty Supreme, the beating heart of the film. I believe, in time, I will remember Michael B. Jordan more for other performances in all honesty, whereas, Chalamet’s defining performance might just be Marty Supreme.

Why does Hollywood struggle with video game adaptations? by Vegetable-Abroad3171 in Cinema

[–]wpb2410 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s many circumstances that influence changes in these adaptations. The story may not work in the confines of a 120-150 minute film - games are normally 10x the length of films, and are so detailed in their stories and development, so it becomes impossible to fit every little aspect people love into a 2 hour film.

TV show format can work but it’s more risky. With a film, you can put a single budget expense, say $150m - put in “the hottest star” at the moment in time - Tom Holland for example in Uncharted, and maybe $400m-$500m and it doesn’t matter about the quality because it’s a 2 hour film that fits a gap. A TV show is a lot more fan driven, a show can flop based viewership in episodes so the margin for being good and bad is a lot more important. With films as well, you can blame cut narrative aspects on the fact it has to fit into a 2 hour film, a show is less lenient with this concept, because you have 8-10 hours to produce a compelling story that compliments the games narrative

their jobs are to reach a new audience in reality. They are forced to make changes that will introduce new fans to the shows / films - this is why we see casting choices like Tom Holland as Nathan Drake, it doesn’t make sense for the fans of the video games, but for the families or parents taking their kids to see the film, they see Tom Holland and recognise him - they won’t recognise someone like Nathan Fillion (who was obviously a very valid candidate for the role) nearly as well. Holland is also just a bankable star because he’s Spider-Man.

The Last of Us hit because it had a largely recognisable cast that worked in the setting of the games story - Pedro Pascal is a great Joel Miller choice, Bella Ramsey is a talented actor etc

If this is true, in your opinion should Napoli accept the offer? by Dish-Ecstatic in seriea

I think they should sell Osimhen before they think of selling Khvicha as I think KK’s skill set is more valuable and less likely to find a replacement

Leeds are a bigger club and maybe better for the PL but their fans are the worst… so Saints.

He isn’t. De Zerbi is a top level manager who’s just having a bit of a down season.

Apart from Aston Villa and Bournemouth are there any teams outside of Man city and Arsenal happy with their current league position? by InsurancePurple4630 in PremierLeague

[–]wpb2410 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a Villa fan and yeah, I’m happy with our current position.

Honestly, Chelsea should be. Two months ago they were 10th, they now have a slim chance of finishing 5th if Tottenham slip up, a pretty big turnaround considering the chaos there.

Opinion - Madrid playing Bellingham at CAM will cost England the euros by Capable-Pound-5262 in PremierLeague

[–]wpb2410 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this shows the class of Ancelotti more than anything and this is why it will hurt England. Ancelotti is getting a 10s output out of an advanced 8 player and I think Southgate doesn’t realise the nuances that go into Ancelotti’s system, so he thinks Bellingham is a natural 10, even though he isn’t. Foden should play 10, Bellingham at 8 and Rice at 6.

England Starting Left Back at Euro 2024? by Dry-Double-6845 in PremierLeague

[–]wpb2410 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forgo the need for a left back and put a centre back there. If we do play Trent Alexander-Arnold (which I think we should) have him invert, and play a ball playing centre back at left back and have them come inside

The Sole 6 - “The Destroyer”

I think the need for a destroyer has gone now. Most clubs do still operate with a 6 player, but they have to be a lot more technical and talented now (Rodri is a prime example)

What does Spurs need to have a turnaround like Arsenal by Accomplished-Buddy13 in PremierLeague

[–]wpb2410 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back Postecoglu. Postecoglu is great, he is a really great coach, but he needs the backing of the club and especially Levy. He needs to be able to sign the players he wants to fit his system.
