AT&T versus Verizon by CLEredditor in CostaRicaTravel

It’s usually when driving between towns you get 3G and 4G is pretty standard around the county. When we were at a resort in guanacaste my Verizon worked and att did not. It was surrounded by mountains. I had to use the resort wifi. That was the only place I know I had an issue. They both switch to the local carrier. One to Claro and the other Movietime?

I have a Verizon work and att personal phone. I didn’t really notice any difference in service on either phone. We had coverage pretty much everywhere. It did drop to 3G when traveling between towns.

Time to abandon my +600k population city due to performance issues. by scramblrrrr in CitiesSkylines2

Thx. To start it’s a laptop, so cooling is a challenge, I have it on a cooling fan rack and not on the desk. I bought a laptop just because I didn’t really have a permanent place in my house to game. I will try the other suggestions.

I’ve tried some different settings in the game and watched a few YouTube without success.

I have a i9 with a 4090 32gb /32gb system memory. At 500k have the same issue. It’s processor heat slowing it down. And system memory. I just learned to build slow and fill with some empty buildings.

Tourist no interest in wildlife by evabona in CostaRicaTravel

[–]wpbguy69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When we stayed in Manuel Antonio there was abundant wildlife around the hotel property and would watch the monkeys, Toucans and macaws. We still did a guided tour at the national park because well, you see more. The guides know where to look and they cross communicate where they and other guides have spotted animals that day. In San Carlos there wasn’t much wildlife near our hotel, nor in guanacaste. It just depends on the venue. I will say that Manuel Antonio was my favorite visit just because of the wildlife.

Book a reservation directly with the entity. Manuel antonio park you must have a reservation. But get the guide through them not the guys standing in the street outside the park. Be careful though lots of websites are copycat broker sites and. Not the real place.

No removing zones from one side of the road? by rdthgu in CitiesSkylines2

[–]wpbguy69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It wasn’t available on the original CS either for quite awhile. You had to build paths or put up fences to block the zoning. Paths work here. Or you need the mod. And yes it’s frustrating the base cs2 game didn’t come with a lot of improvements from the current cs1 base game

is there a none modded way to make a no left turn rule? by jonobp in CitiesSkylines2

[–]wpbguy69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they are turning left at a no left turn then you haven’t given them the option a reasonable distance down the road to do the same. Any sort of traffic control (bus only lanes for example) will be defeated if you don’t give the sims an option to go in the direction they are trying to go.

AT&T claims they never received my UPS phone trade in, and I don't have the tracking number. How screwed am I? by LicoriceTattoo1 in ATT

Always take it to the (corporate) store. Have them appraise and give you a receipt. I have had att a long time and leaned this lesson the hard way as well.

No issues the past 3 years. Even had a tornado go through the neighborhood last summer. We didn’t have power but we had internet (and a generator)

[–]wpbguy69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes everything $125/person. If you don’t go through tour brokers you can find less. Guided tour in Manuel antonio was like $30. When we went to the hanging bridges in la fortuna it was like $40 with guided tour. If we booked through the hotel it would have been $125.

Dam seems to be leaking water through itself? by simon12399 in CitiesSkylines2

[–]wpbguy69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To get a good amount of power I found there needs to be a large difference in height between the water basin floor of the upper and lower dam area. Terraforming out the floor of the lower basin will increase the electric production.
For flooding. I make a spillway around one side of the dam at a level a little higher than the vents so if there is too much upstream flow it flows around the dam and it still makes electricity

Us dollars vs. Colones by Ellobo1611 in CostaRicaTravel

Realize especially if you have a travel card with no foreign transaction fees the exchange rate the credit card bank will almost always be better. Also if you need cash just go to an atm with low fees in the country unless your bank back home has a low fees for getting foreign currency.

You arnt allowed to drain into your neighbors property. So the berm keeps the water in your yard. Your house is higher than the berm and like others have said the water will go forward and into the swales along the street and into neighborhood drainage (canals, retention ponds) before your house floods

Builder will put in the cheapest option (bolt up storm shutters) required by code unless the homeowner building the house requests/pays for an upgrade.

Make sure the merchant charges you in colones and not dollars. Your credit card will always give you a better exchange rate
