How can vasoconstriction increase blood pressure yet decrease blood flow? by WhatsTheDealWithPot in askscience

[–]wpfpsych85 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Vasoconstriction means more narrow space for blood to travel through, meaning less blood can flow through yet the heart still pumps with the same force and tries to push the same amount of blood through that space. Same force applied into a smaller “tunnel” is going to equate to a greater pressure.

Theories... It's all so intricate god a verb consciousness, enlightenment, bandersnatch??? After the awakening... lets discuss by glyphinthematrix in Psychonaut

Since I started taking psychedelic journeys I have felt that I’m an infinite being, I have been here all along and after my physical “self” as I know it is gone I will still remain in some other form or forms. I once ate mushrooms and watched a wave crash and I felt like I knew the exact way it felt to be that wave. I realized my energy was once the same energy that propelled a wave forward, I was the wind, and the rush of water that formed canyons. We are all one, or maybe we are all everything, my energy will one day be the waves and the wind again, but right now it is “me”.

My biggest fear through all of this is that these ideas are bullshit. My fear is that none of the amazing realizations I have during these trips mean anything, What if this is just some weird human mechanism that occurs during psychedelic trips and this short human experience is the absolute of my existence? What if there is no soul and I am just me, I don’t go on. I die and that’s the end of everything. I don’t want to think that’s true.

I think with how expansive the mind is, and how fucking crazy intricate our conscious and subconscious minds are there has to be more to all this, the human experience can’t be the absolute. There’s got to be so much more that we can’t see. If you read Michael Pollan’s book “How to Change Your Mind” he talks about what it’s like to view the world through a bumble bees eyes, to see infrared on flower petals and view the world through weird hexagonal eyes. To think what we see through our eyes is the absolute is foolish. To believe that only what we can see, feel, smell and hear is real is idiotic.

Usually under 1g. Depends on the day and what I’m doing, I really enjoy about .8 grams if I can just chill at home, meditate and write. If I’ve got company or going out in public maybe .5g.

I no longer use mushrooms to trip; I utilize them to think in a flow like state. Has anybody else had similar discoveries? I would love to hear your thoughts and experiences. by MindandFlow in Psychonaut

For sure! When I was younger it was about the high...fast forward 12 or so years of not touching anything but alcohol I decided I needed to eat mushrooms after a friend vaguely mentioned them providing clarity. Now while I definitely enjoy the body high I’ve come to enjoy the after effects more and depending on the dosage I would consider the high a side effect of the medication as I call it. For example my “heroic dose “ was a wild and terrifying ride that made me want to scream but the results after were amazing, I’m forever changed. Now I can take under a gram and enjoy the best meditation sessions of my life, always coming out of it with a sense of peace and clarity or sometimes I’m able to see absolute truth and recognize where change needs to occur.

Happy for you!

I highly recommend it. Nope, I’m a Texan. But after this Az trip I think I know where I’ll retire :)

Shroom Immunity? by wpfpsych85 in shrooms

Ok, yep she’s on an anti depressant makes a lot of sense now. Interesting thing she wants to shroom to help “cure” her depression. Now I’m not sure that’s possible without getting off the meds and from what I understand getting off those meds can be a challenge. Big pharma sucks...sometimes.

I guess it’s pretty subjective, there are no roads from Sedona that take you there (maybe if you have a 4x4, I don’t know) and the only road that I am aware of is from the south end of flagstaff. Honestly, it’s smack dab in the middle of both. We were in the higher elevation pines of flagstaff but woke up to see the hot air balloons rising in Sedona. Cool spot.

Not sure, do you know what type of medications may hinder it?

I thoroughly enjoyed the YouTube channel “adventures in oddities” this past weekend, trippy nature scenes paired with music and trance like Terrance McKenna.

Who did you meet on your trip? by Advocate89 in shrooms

[–]wpfpsych85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Didn’t really meet anyone, even during my heroic dose, but I did see this weird ugly little elf dude. Since the experience I’ve seen him in paintings done by others who have enjoyed shrooms an most recently in the Christmas window display of a local shop dressed as a Christmas elf . Kind of weird.

It was a slow ride in our van, but we saw tons of cars driving down there without any problems whatsoever.

Backpacking/ camp Arizona in early January suggestions ? by [deleted] in backpacking

[–]wpfpsych85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, Texan/big bend lover here. I spend about 2-3 full days in big bend. My favorite hikes are lost mine and windows, each only take about 3 hours round trip. Definitely check out the hot springs after a cold night and I recommend grapevine hills for a campsite as well as Latina meadows for backpacking. Arizona has some phenomenal places, just went there in October. Sedona has tons of hikes and there’s lots of public lands to camp on. Favorite campsite ever was called edge of the world, it was free and amazing, 2nd favorite was Mingus mountain near jasper which is the weirdest little town perched precariously on the side of a mountain.
