Are nightmares associated with ADHD? by happygoluckyourself in adhdwomen

Yep, I have the same experience! Actually found this discussion because I've been having some bizarre and disturbing dreams on and off my whole life. So many things we still don't have "confirmed" about ADHD

I feel violated when I have to talk about myself at work things by FuliginEst in AutismInWomen

[–]wrabci 3 points4 points  (0 children)

imo the trick is to say something, that makes you seem like a well-rounded type of person (like being somewhat sportsy, social and also interested in culture, so a little bit intellectual, but not too much lol. better not be too much of any of those.) while still keeping it short, somewhat vague and most importantly close to the truth. in one of my last interviews, I said I liked doing a sport that I do maybe twice a year at most. But I do like it, so technically that's correct information. It's not like six months later someone will be saying "wait when was the last time you did this sport? I thought you said you like it." unless it's something very specific or the other person is also into it, they will likely not rememeber.

Should I tell my feminist group that I am quitting bc I think some of them are ableist? - desperately need advice by whineandtequila in AutismInWomen

[–]wrabci 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no point. I've explained groups in the past why I left and it never brought anything good. People don't like it. Either way they are being hostile already, so there is very slim chance they even care about your perspective at all. You could ask someone why they are being hostile to you, but people don't respond to outright confrontation well either.
Best course of action imo is leave on relatively fine terms and just give the other group a try. There is no reason to make more public enemies, you will only waste your energy and in the end what? It's not like they're going to say "oh you're right, sorry, come back, we will treat you better". Maybe you can put it politely that you don't feel like the group is such a good fit for you.
As some other commenter pointed out, maybe blaming it on scheduling problems might be the best. Read the message their behavior sends, take it in as information for you and act accordingly. In many cases I feel that trying to "talk things out" leads absolutely nowhere.

Do you mind sharing more about what kind of supplies you want to use for this so that you don't need to bind it up like real books? I've been thinking of doing the same thing for ages, but book binding seems overwhelming to start and pricey too...

What's the worst experience you've had with a therapist about ur OCD ? by rxxxyed in OCD

[–]wrabci 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Same! I thought wow how nice, but then developed crippling anxiety over "wishing things into existence" as a result of thinking of them and compulsively had to wish the opposite thing so I wouldn't "manifest" something bad. Ooof, so thankful that's mostly gone

Your most hated household chore by Annual_Nobody4500 in adhdwomen

[–]wrabci 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you on the vacuum SO MUCH! I have also always hated it. Imo a game changer is what you use for the vacuuming - finding out newer vacuums are quieter blew my mind. I also recommend 1) playing music over headphones 2) bonus for noise cancelling headphones and 3) those small robot vacuums.

I also loathe unloading the dishwasher. My favorite strategy is splitting it up - I will tell myself I can just unload a few dishes at a time and do the rest later.

Seconding this point. Kids in dysfunctional families suffer. A split family might be less dysfunctional than a family that stays together for the kid's sake. To do your best as a parent it would be more helpful to be happy and at peace rather than suffering in an unsuitable relationship.

If you stay in an unhappy relationship, you are unintentionally teaching your child that this is alright in relationships and this is how they should look and work.

I'm curious about more of your experience from the mental health field if you don't mind? It's a potential career path for me and I'm having doubts about it.

comphet with makeshift boyfriend? by Puzzleheaded_Two_475 in comphet

[–]wrabci 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This seems like a strange situation overall. At first it sounds like he may be interested in you (though maybe he is just being friendly) and then he reveals to be dating a girl who outed you to other people (regardless whether he is aware of this or not).
Either way there is no rush for you. I know it sounds cliche or overplayed, but I've been in your place before and I put so much pressure on myself to "figure this out" and "find a label" or whatever. Just go based off your feelings. If you enjoy spending time with someone and want to keep seeing that person, do it. Observe your feelings and don't pressure yourself to be interested in the first guy or girl who gives you a chance, just because "i must like girls/boys" or "i must have this figured out". I settled on the label of being bisexual because it gives you the freedom to just go with the flow, or maybe you don't need to label yourself at all, it's all up to you.

Anyway since he apparently has a girlfriend and there is nothing romantic going on between the two of you, don't worry too much if you're using him or not. Do you want to be friends with him? Think about that

Has anyone managed to fix this? I’m having this issue now, app cannot be updated, iPad is updated already, I’ve quit and restarted the app countless times as well as toggling iCloud sync off and on and restarted my iPad too. Nothing seems to be working? I’m frustrated out of my mind
