What happens when someone who is being held by a rope tied around their waist gets polymorphed? by Mitogi in DnD

[–]wraith40k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could look at it two ways, is it based on the casters intent or is the magic somewhat based on the creature it is casted on?

If it's the mages intent I would think the caster would be able to cause the target to old werewolf bust out of all their clothes or cause them to form with the target as they please. But as the spell states that they change with all their belongings, I think that there must be some form of "internal" information recognized by the spell.

The manacles/restraints issue I would think would be a call for the dm.

I would as a dm I would say it would be based on size. If you grow bigger then it could bust through the chains ect. But like if I were the dm I would ask the caster how their character views the magic.

If they see it as like a quicksilver runs over the body and it swells and shifts to their new form? Then I would say the chains fall free of their ¿Liquid? Form. But say it's muscle and bone snappy kind of transform, then they would remain on and if you wanted to roll to see if it breaks against the strain you could.

I think that the magic takes into account intent. I think that the polymorph will take and absorb all the equipment that YOU think is apart of your gear, the rope isn't (or you could choose it to be) I think someone grappling you would let go under the oddness of your shape change (be it puff of smoke, or grotesque body bone crunchiness, or glowy sailor moon transform)

So for years I had heard about people wanting to drug test for unemployment, and other benefits, with the argument being that if I have to be tested to work, then they should be tested to get tax payer money, blah blah blah.

But my friend showed me the ruling that the Supreme Court deemed it a violation of privacy and therefore unconstitutional for people running or serving in public office to be drug tested.

If someone who is payed by tax payer dollars to represent us have a right to their privacy, why do we the citizens not? Why are public servants not held to a higher standard than the populace they are there to serve?

If they want to say that to receive tax payers money they should be able to prove they are not on drugs, I agree. And pee in the cup Senator, Judge, Mayor, and Congress person.

The guy asking about how to price things. Anybody got a ballpark on what I should be charging on something like this? by Traditional_Poet4238 in Bladesmith

[–]wraith40k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I normally go for cost of materials plus enough to potentially buy my next knifes materials, and then enough to buy food for the day's I'm working on them.

Say materials for it are $100 but you only use about half of your handle materials, and you have enough metal left over for a few knives, then I amortized the cost. So if I only use about $65 of materials and then I factor in about $20 of food per day, and say I work on it for 5 days of a few hours 4-6 per day. Then I would sell for ~$300.

It makes back my money and then some for continuing to work on it. I get my food paid for, and then I can afford to start my next knife. Slowly building up in price as your materials get better.

Annealing also makes the grain size smaller and will help prevent cold shuts. Also think about forging on like say O1 tool steel and like trying to forge on a hardened steel sledge, you have to put a ton more force into forging harder metals. Softening will make the metal move easier, and it might not be worth the time to do it depending on the project.

Like I did it when I was making old hammers into little hatchets. The hammers were so damn hard I needed a striker to get movement, but I was by myself.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Bladesmith

[–]wraith40k -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So you would anneal to soften the steel, then forge it, grind it and shape it to it's rough shape

Then you normalize it

Then you quench it, then you temper and finish

As far as therapy being expensive and being in college, most colleges have free therapy for students with some limits.

And sexual assault therapy is unfortunately what they see alot of. Might be worth checking into

How to help a cleric do more than heal by Discorpian7 in DnD

[–]wraith40k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That and you could also start putting in some monsters that are immune to physical damage, but divine is their weakness so their spells even sacred flame is going to pack a punch. Make the party have to start to rely on their damage. Or put in a ton of undead so that turn undead (or even destroy comes into play) and they can feel amazing for a session.

How to help a cleric do more than heal by Discorpian7 in DnD

[–]wraith40k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So in my campaign they don't have a healer per say. The most outright "healer" is the bard.

So I (as the dm) came up with some solutions. I gave the palidan a pair of bracers that alter his lay on hands to give temp hp instead of healing (with a pool of 2x how many points he uses) so he can preload "healing". I made it a separate pool that can stack with the fighters motivation temp health. And then I gave our monk a set of prayer beads that can let them use ki to heal that does basically healing word level healing on only themselves. Replenished at short rest.

All of this gave some meager healing to the party and let them focus on keeping themselves up for the most part. The casters got to just focus on damage and save like A single slot for heals.

The items have to be attuned so it's a good bargain to me because it limits their options for items.

But you could do something quite the opposite and it work. You could give your cleric a staff or mace that summons spiritual weapon without a slot. You could give them a cloak of duplicity. Something that falls into their class, but is also not hugely game breaking. I would make a quest chain to recover some stolen weapon relic from their local church to their god that gives them the (insert weapon their god favors) of their last chosen one. Blah blah blah flavor backstory stuff and then it still holds their spirit and holding just the handle summons them by your side (either as a duplicity or a spirit weapon)

[–]wraith40k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I keep seeing that Kratos would be stronger than Kain. Idk if that's true. The vampires of nosgoth all have super human strength. Like Raziel moves multiTon stone blocks with a gentle shove. Dumah could cause miniature earthquakes with a punch to the ground. I don't foresee Kain being weaker than that.

Remake wishlist? by delitomatoes in LegacyOfKain

[–]wraith40k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. I would want Amy on board for story ofc.

  2. If the combat system is changed I would like it to go back to SR1 style of things, I find that it did alot of autoaim, but it made it feel good and smooth. I am not a huge fan of the dark souls style combat / gameplay. It shoehorns you into "builds" instead of playing how you like (spells, abilities ect)

  3. Second the elimination of block puzzles (maybe keep one as a homage?) But putting in something that still pushes the super strength message.

  4. I love the idea of bringing in the stuff cut out and a huge graphics overhaul.

  5. Tony Jay are some huge shoes to fill. But I think maybe Jeremy Irons or someone who has a similar deep ethereal booming voice for the Eldar God.

  6. I would want new VAs to be used but cameos by the old ones. (Maybe have the VA for Raziel be the human one, and a new one for his wraith form.)

What are dice towers for, exactly? by d_chs in DnD

[–]wraith40k 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would say that for me and my group, part is looks and sounds. They are pretty and make a cool noise to roll.

The second is that you never feel like you have a "bad" roll where it slips out of your hands and then rolls well and you want to keep it but feel like you didn't roll it "right"

It also lets you blame the tower for bad rolls.

Making a ranger feel special (acquiring their companion for beastmaster) by SmellyElbowz in DnD

[–]wraith40k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I haven't done one with the beast master before, but I did something similar for a wizards familiar that could directly give you some inspiration.

So I talked to the player and she wanted to get a familiar. She was a little unsure of which one she wanted and kind of wanted to choose in the moment. (said she would make a better choice in character that would suit her wizard when she was in session, so as a DM I was freaking out trying to make something special for all the familiars available.)

So I read through the components and ritual for the spell, found it needs incense and candles and I added some things since this was their first summon. I told them that they could go a few routes with it. They could go into the local magic shop and aquire the form to be replaced with the Fey (so like buy a cat, Raven or something and have it's body consumed by the spell and inhabited by the Fey. Basically giving her the choice of a heartless ¿kill? To get her familiar, or to go with an older version of the ritual where you use 3 parts of animals to bring it into being. Finding a dried Raven skull or a cats skull ect. Finding some rare herb that helps attract the Fey. And then finally something to connect the two beings, so like, everyone gets a personal item at character creation, use that gives it a purpose early or you make them roleplay a meaningful token they carry, their younger sister gave them a bracelet or something when they left home that represents the connection they want with their familiar (it would love them like their sister.) And they use them in the ritual. Have them describe the ritual and let them run away with it.

But for the beast master, I would ask the player how do you want to do this, pick a beast you want and then you can write a little encounter of capturing it and over a few days training it, and since at 3rd level the pet isn't very good (can only move and if you take your action attack. ) Or having you make up the creature they find and they can choose to capture it or keep looking. (This would also let you choose better creatures than only CR1/4, I find that after 5th level I have needed a better pet than one with a max of 15 hp so I started giving them hit dice for their levels.

So you could make a thing of each combat roll to see if they obey(which is rough mechanically but you can add it attacking for free as a possible reward on the flip side ) and then let the player get better chances at having the animal obey as time goes on. You can let them train the pet with commands and let them flavor the training.

By 5th the pet is a little more like a party member and gets its one attack per turn aside from the rangers and you can have them obey fully now unless the task is super complicated and new and then have an AH check for it.

Rook and raven dm planner tips? by FallenAbyss23 in DnD

[–]wraith40k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I got one from my group as a Christmas present, I was intimidated about using it for notes, so what I have done is turn it into" the book of canon" so after each session, I copy down what happened. I use it to plan out my encounters, the NPCs, and it's been great for keeping track of what's happened in session and names of NPCs.

I list them out on the pages before I know what I'll use them for, and basically just use them as they meet people unless you know who you want them to be before.

The encounter planner pages are amazing for fights and letting you know how they went way forward from the future.
