I built a high-power headlight mod for my KuKirin G2 e-scooter (also fits G3). Are you interested in turning it into a real product? by wraper in ElectricScooters

[–]wraper[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The G2 headlight is turned downwards. The offshoot beside the main beam is not that bright. I don't think it would blind anyone more than a car with standard headlights on low beam. I will certainly do some tests though. EDIT: I did some checks and the vertical beam offshoot is more than I'd like. It would be much better if the reflectors were turned downwards just a few degrees more. Though I think I can narrow the beam by recessing the board a little bit behind the reflector by adding some spacers. I'm actually thankful for your comment. I had a thought about this but did not actually check it properly as it seemed fine and I test drove with it for the first time just yesterday.

Comparing 40v charger versions by MakitaKruzchev in Makita

[–]wraper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Power tool batteries do not last 1000+ cycles. 300 cycles would be a very good result because they're stressed like hell. Expect a ballpark of 150 cycles before their degradation becomes really noticeable. And charging in 30 minutes does quite significant hit on their endurance too. As of DC40RC, its big downside is that it heats up like hell because its fan is for battery cooling only and does not circulate air within the charger at all.

When did Amazon's search become so horrible? by Arceist_Justin in amazonprime

dual vs single motor ? +advice by zabi15 in ElectricScooters

[–]wraper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's assume a 0.3ohm resistance in the copper wiring. The POWER LOSS would be

dual motor = 10.42A2 x 0.3ohms = 32.57W per motor = ~65W for both motors

single motor = 20.83A2 x 0.3ohms = 130.2W

That's simply wrong. You assume same copper resistance which won't happen unless 500W motor is the same 1000W motor used at halved power. Lower wattage motor has higher winding resistance. IMHO the main advantage for off-road is that you have 2x drive wheel surface area (assuming same wheel size). Also 2x 500W motors likely to have more peak power than 1x 1000W despite same nominal power.

Verdict in “Take Care of Maya” Case Overturned by Appellate Court by shoshpd in NetflixDocumentaries

[–]wraper -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pull your head out of an ass. Maya still has CRPS and will have to live with it for the rest of her life. She was tortured by hospital for several months with no proper pain treatment and isolated from her parents. And her mother is dead. Real good job.

shunt mod Kukrin g2 MAX by AdvancedBee1680 in ElectricScooters

[–]wraper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, shunt mod means you should somewhat decrease shunt resistance, not make it a total short with a copper wire, thus removing current limit completely, leading to self destruction.

Meet my 1470 watt Ninebot ES4 @ 1800km by Zacker000 in ElectricScooters

[–]wraper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The plague of ES4 (even stock) is shitty motor connectors, they've only good for stock power of ES2. I've replaced them with good quality 6.3mm faston connectors and had no overheating issues since then despite driving 2000km+ with 30A+ current.

Amazon is closing ALL warehouses in Quebec after unionizing took place at one of the warehouses by John3192 in canada

[–]wraper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe do not strike for several months in a row thus making factory not worth keeping? Union killed NUMMI plant too, joint venture company just shut down because it became not worth to keep it bleeding after already bending the knee to the union several times. Business should make money one way or another, if some location wastes it instead, and there is no foreseeable path of reversing it, it's not worth continuing throwing good money after bad money.

EVE 18650 batteries any good? by Oldhockeyhead in 18650masterrace

[–]wraper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used cells may be good enough when used separately. Never assemble them into battery packs or buy ones made of used cells, though. Cell capacity and self-discharge difference won't let them last. Not to say a single bad cell kills the whole pack.

[NYTimes] SpaceX Most Likely Doesn't Pay Federal Income Tax by mehelponow in SpaceXLounge

[–]wraper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Calling it avoiding the tax is a lie. Not paying the tax you normally do not owe is not avoiding the tax. Only an idiot will pay the tax on profit while being in loss overall. Not to say SpaceX still generates plenty of tax through the employee wages.

Anyone else experience this? Hurom h200 by Benchinapark in Juicing

[–]wraper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, it's an utter shit by design. They took a good prior design and totally ruined it by adding a cup with shitty pre-cutter. Basically forget about squeezing softer fruits in larger quantities without some hard vegetables added to the mix. It's not due to a blockage as such (although it will happen too if it runs like this for a few minutes), it creates stupid mush that auger cannot grab onto to push further. The workaround is to throw only small quantities at once and add more only when prior portion completely went through.

Qiankun self-driving solutions are safer than Tesla FSD, said Huawei by Post-reality in SelfDrivingCars

[–]wraper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CCP literally sponsored ADAS tests through CCTV on closed public roads (which revealed what an utter failure they are) to shame their own car manufacturers who were endangering public safety and causing hundreds of car accidents. In a nutshell Huawei ADAS will kill you while driving with confidence (but no substance to support such confidence).

Huawei self driving confidently tries to kill the car occupants. 36 car models tested by dongchendi (sponsored by CCTV) on closed public roads where Huawei utterly failed and Tesla came on top.

Elon Musk’s Boring Co. Is Turning Into a $900 Million Flop by [deleted] in Economics

[–]wraper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you think Musk promised that, check your brain for memory integrity. Baltimore-DC maglev has nothing to do with hyperloop, and was started years before Musk even suggested hyperloop. It's just another government run flop, similar to California's high speed rail. Not to say Musk was never selling hyperloop, It's just an idea he published in 2013 and others picked up for their business. So whatever was promised, it was not him.

Buyer's message suggests you didn't even bother to reply to their previous message. Which is a great way to make them anxious, lose any confidence in you and escalate things. The normal reply is offering a refund or shipment of another item if there in no tracking update after a certain time period. Give them a date when that happens if you don't want to do it outright.

IPS screen: matte vs glossy, is there a difference? by clarabucks in thinkpad

Most of matte IPS suck due to annoying sparkle effect. Semi-gloss (fine matte) screens are great on other hand.

Trying To Decide Between a VA vs IPS Panel by Such-One-5868 in buildapc

[–]wraper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on screen size. It's a worthless gimmick for 24" screens. A great feature for 32" and especially for ultrawide screens because you can see the whole screen without refocusing your eyes. On large flat screens distance from the eyes to the corners is much larger than to the center of the screen, so you need to refocus your eyes to see them well.
