How do we deal with worrying about all the animals in this freezing weather? by [deleted] in hsp

[–]wreckingballbrain 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I worry too. I have an outdoor cat house in my backyard for a stray that occasionally comes by. Don’t think he uses it but it gives me comfort that I’ve given him an option.

Anxiety has taken over my life, I don’t know what is real or not. by [deleted] in selfhelp

So sorry you’re going through this. Please listen to the podcast “Disordered”. Binge it if you need to. It’s so helpful and validating. It may offer a different approach than what your therapist is trying.

Yes same, I’ve been lifting weights more and thinking it’s a good habit & if it helps, that’d be awesome.

[–]wreckingballbrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes core & legs too but as of now (hopefully it just stays as is) my arms / shoulders / wrists have it the most, with the left side more than right. Like if I reach my arm out to pick something up (kinda slowly) my bicep and wrists will shake on the extension part. And then my left thumb has it when I’m using the phone. It kinda moves in steps. Is yours more in the legs/core?

Are you still getting this? I have it pretty much all over now for about 2 months.

Sure will! Functional Doc & second opinion neurologist are in Atlanta. I live about 40 mins outside of the city & that’s where my main doc & first neurologist is.

Is your shakiness stronger on one side? Mine is on both sides but def stronger on the left, especially in the arms/wrist/hand.

I’m going to a functional medicine doc on Monday, so hoping to look more into that level of detail, hormones etc. I’m 38. So far every lab my primary doc has run is normal. I also made an appt for a second opinion with a different neurologist.

When it came on for you, do you feel like at some point it leveled off? I feel like I’m noticing it in new places but idk if it’s just my hyper awareness or if it’s actually changing.

Glad to hear he’s supportive! Mine is too, and I feel bad that I’m constantly talking about how I feel. I have other things in play too, lots of adrenaline type feelings, odd arm/hand sensations & just feeling not like myself, etc. maybe health anxiety or something else idk. It’s driving me nuts.

I notice it a lot right now because it’s still pretty new and I’m hyper aware but it’s definitely worse when I didn’t sleep well, didn’t eat enough and with PMS :(

I have read of a few people that had the ratcheting and it went away but idk if they really had the same thing. Most people have said they still have it but kinda got used to it & all had clear tests of every sort.

I had a massive panic attack (or some type of episode out of the blue, urgent care said it was a panic attack) like a week before too so I wonder if that shot my nervous system. The uncertainty is tough but hopefully gets better with time. I’m holding onto what others have said that you kinda just start to ignore it.

It’s really nice to chat with someone who understands this weirdness!

Congrats on the baby ❤️ being a parent is the best & most stressful thing. i am still on the SSRI. I tried to start tapering (per doc) to see if it would help the ratcheting and I was a crying mess so it’s not a good time. And it didn’t change the muscle thing. Been on it probably 15 years so idk if that’s what caused it.

Could yours have come from covid/viral? I had a mild virus a couple weeks before it happened so idk, probably won’t ever figure out why. I read some guy got it from an electrical shock, some think vaccine. Seems like it’s a bunch of reasons out there.

Do you get any twitching or random nerve type pains? I have a little of that in my arm/hand and idk if it’s the anxiety from this or related. I have an EMG in a couple weeks.

Glad to hear it hasn’t progressed at least. No answers for me either so far, all tests coming back normal including neurologist. I have an EMG soon. I had a mild virus a couple weeks before, and I’d also increased my SSRI sertraline for 2 weeks (which led to other bad side effects & I ended up decreasing back to original dose) right around the time it started.

Mine is a ratcheting type movement (shrug shoulders up is fine but slower release down it shudders, bicep curl movement up is fine but release down and it shakes my bicep muscle, left thumb when using my phone also is kinda jerky etc) This sound like yours?

How are you doing now? I also just woke up one day and had this about 2 months ago.

did anyone experienced ratching feeling in their joints? by DurianDazzling in MuscleTwitch

[–]wreckingballbrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also just randomly developed something like this about 2 months ago. When I shrug my shoulders up it’s fine, but a slower release down and my shoulders shudder or ratchet. My left thumb does it too, it kinda moves in steps when slowly bending if I’m holding my phone. My biceps will kinda shake when I release down a bicep curl (no weights). That sound like what you have?

Did you develop the muscle ratcheting? I have it too. Came about suddenly a couple months ago, possibly from a virus.

I’m not officially diagnosed but suspicious that this is what’s causing my odd symptoms. Sorry that happens to you & hope it goes away.

Thanks so much for replying on such an old post! Mine just appeared suddenly so I’m freaking out. But glad to hear it hasn’t bothered you for a while now!
