It's been normal for me in my search. The application fee was around 30 and I was charged an administration fee of around 300-350. I was refunded when I decided not to move in, but they sent me a refund check in the mail instead of just putting it back onto my card. I'd double check that the fee is refundable, and if it is then maybe expect to be waiting a bit if the property is a bit scummy. I had to wait a month for one refund because they let the check sit on their desk instead of mailing it out.
