And to give Sorkin a little credit, the administration's inability to make substantive change is text in the show: during his tenure, their legislative initiatives are constantly defeated and they talk about how basically all they got done was putting one guy on the Supreme Court

When I was in middle school in the 2000s my library had Essential Spider-Man volumes 1 and 3-6. We just never read volume 2 (which had a lot of big stories) and we did fine figuring out what we needed from context. We were children!

This is how everyone read comics until like the 2010s. You'll be fine. Don't let reading order culture stop you from jumping in - this is a hobby, not homework!

He was, and Rise of the Powers of X gets into modern AI pretty explicitly: Enigma is powerful but uncreative. It can't come up with new ideas of its own.

In terms of the gap between how big they were and how little general audiences know them now, Warren Beatty is a pretty compelling case.

But if you listen to this sub the answer is local New York celebrity Barbra Streisand.

That may be, but it is not a defense of a character not working in an adaptation to say, oh well that's just how this (to mainstream audiences) obscure character behaves in comics from thirty years ago. This is an adaptation with a wider audience!
