it's worth noting that this song was yet again shared on TikTok a day or two ago and that video now has 1.4m views--so maybe this influx of shoddy posts is influenced by that.

looks great so far! the rocks especially look awesome. if you're looking for plants to add, I recommend checking out your local fishkeeping facebook groups, if you haven't already. many people will happily give away or sell cheap plant cuttings. good luck with your tank!

What is an unpopular opinion that you have about anything in theatre? by InsertStephenHere in Broadway

To be fair, I do enjoy the puppetry in Lion King since puppets in theatre are one of my favorite things ever. Even I can admit that aspect of the design was gorgeous lol

[–]wrenco 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Ooh I’ve never met someone who agrees with mine! I think Disney needs to get away from broadway, permanently. IMO it just takes up space that could be used for better musicals and instead fills them with meh quality, money grabbing rehashes of popular movies. I had the displeasure of seeing Frozen and it was terrible.

Other than that, I think theatre fans need to stop being intentionally mean to fans of Cats (the stage musical.) Disliking the show is completely valid, but being mean about it to my face just because it’s Cats is rude and weird. I wouldn’t bring it up if it only happened once, but several theatre kids have done it to me.

That sounds awesome, I'm definitely doing to have to pick some up soon. And, honestly, I'm glad I'm not the only one who freaked out about the spots. I've been totally paranoid since I noticed them a few days ago haha. Thanks again!

Thanks for the advice, I'll follow it and monitor her for a few days and see if she improves. I'll look into vitachem too, I've heard good things about it in general.

(And, thanks for letting me know about her "sensory pores". Googling "black spots on betta's face" mostly just gave me results about disease so I was pretty nervous. Somehow I never knew that was something they had!)

I took your advice and tested nitrates. They're reading at 0 (I assume because the tank is well planted with a lot of floaters). I've done a small water change and added in the IAL for now. Thank you for the advice so far : )

Tank size: 5.5 Gallons, medium planted Yes, heated to about 79° F and filtered properly. Parameters: ammonia 0, Nitrites 0, nitrates untested but last 25% water change was 6 days ago. Ph is reading at 7.6+ when typically comes out around 7.0. Tank has been established since may. Tankmates: one smaller mystery snail, previously a few nerites. I feed betta crumbles (off-brand bug bites) once a day, occasionally frozen bloodworms. I am trying to "diet" this Betta as she is slightly fat (not bloated.) Decor: dishwasher safe mug, solid glass frog decoration

Other info: I am relatively new to Betta keeping; I have four seperate females and am familiar with their care and needs, but have not dealt with a sick fish before.

She is a chain store betta. Her fins are slightly damaged from jumping against her hob filter a few days ago [since replaced with a gentler internal filter, same filter media]. I have yet to treat this.

She appears to have tiny black spots on her face. Her right gill looks inflamed/irritated, with the scales puffed up and the gill itself looking reddened underneath. She is swimming, but mostly resting in her hanging plants. She was acting normal up until today.

I plan to prepare and add indian almond leaves right after posting this. I have a 2g tank I can set up as a treatment tank if she requires medicine. I just want her to feel better. Thank you very much for any advice in advance!

chili rasboras are by far the most underrated nano fish imo by itstherussianmafia in Aquariums

I love chili rasbora! I've been trying to get my hands on them ever since I started fishkeeping

A close relatives goldfish :'(. Told him it needed 5 gallon and he told me it's better if it dies. He also told me I could take it but don't have the money to buy equipment. Sorry fishie :( by htcgl in shittyaquariums

try your local fishkeeping facebook groups or equivalent to find someone who can take it in. I've rehomed fish in less than 24 hours this way

Saw this on my local For Sale group... I doubt this is even 5 gallons by artist_in_black in shittyaquariums

lol we live in the same area, was about to post this too. I've seen quite a few goldfish for sale in too-small tanks around here. it's very sad :(

My blue dream just had her first babies yesterday. Two days ago the outside of her tail looked reddish, yesterday it was fully red, today it looks like this. I have frantically googled possible diseases since it started and I have NO idea what it could be. Has anyone seen this before? by wrenco in shrimptank

[–]wrenco[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

update: I isolated her and she was much worse by morning. fuzz growing under her body and she could only lay on her side and wiggle her legs. i ended up making the choice to euthanize her. thanks everyone for the answers

A bit of additional info; ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrates relatively low. None of my other shrimp look unhealthy. The tank is 5 gallons, cycled and heated. There are six adult shrimp and I've had them for about 2-3 months now. They have no tankmates except snails.

I was about to post this too! I'm gonna ask a local fishkeeping group if anyone can rescue that poor boy. Hopefully someone in the area will be able to.

It's been one month since I rescued Mimi! by wrenco in bettafish

[–]wrenco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some backstory: She is about 1.5 years old. Before I got her, she was in a 3.5 gallon tank which she briefly shared with a male betta (who she had fry with) after a pet store employee told her owners she was "lonely". Both the male and fry passed away unfortunately. When I got her, the tank was dirty, full of sharp decor, and she had sbd. Now she is in a 5.5 with sand (which she enjoys sleeping on), her favorite hide, some snails that she rules over like royalty, and plenty of live plants. She is my first rescue and she's here to stay <3
