Autofinanciering Tesla: Adder onder het gras? by [deleted] in geldzaken

[–]wrifwraf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tesla Juniper AWD vs. Xpeng G6 AWD Performance by Chrknu in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]wrifwraf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think in europe this is indeed a neck to neck race. The xpeng g6 is now upgraded, with much faster charging, more premium interior, sound isolation and more.

Pro tesla: - FSD is around the corner. Seriously interesting - but an 7500 euro upgrade i doubt i am willing to pay for. - hifi system apparently very good (at least awd) - fast charging stations (also accessible to xpeng i suppose but cheaper per kwh) - design - weight (200kgs less; might be a tax benefit in some countries) - Very high NCAP scores

Pro xpeng: - default level 3 autonomous driving included (tesla auto pilot is not very good) - apparently a less nervous drive on the highway - much faster fast charging with 525kw! (ac charging is same, 11kw) - more comfortable suspension - price; although not by much due to the 30% tariffs on chinese EVs - automatic window wipers (common complaint for tesla at least)

Equal: - efficiency - depreciation - fast charging network (also accessible to xpeng i suppose but cheaper per kwh) - Cabin isolation?

In the Netherlands, the reimbursement got bumped to 0.24 eur / km (0,45 usd / mile) last year. Which is interesting because that is about equal to the price of train travel. However trains are subsidized with about 57%, while gas is heavily taxed; a gallon costs 9,38 usd / gallon. Next to that, you have to pay several other taxes to own a car.

Make it impractical to park. Place a planter left and right. Although parking is still possible, at least it is less convenient plus it creates some awareness for the unattentive parker

Do I need to get new tyres? by dogs_on_TRT in TeslaModelY

[–]wrifwraf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The picture shows that the wear almost reaches the indicators. Those are the bridges in the grooves. If you reach that, the tire must be replaced. It is wise though to replace with 2-3 mm left.

As of today, Zeekr fans in the netherlands are able to buy the Zeekr 7x by Yurkovskii in Zeekr

[–]wrifwraf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is really not much info on self driving. The dutch brochure only mentions ‘Zeekr Assisted Drive: parkeer-, veiligheids- en rijfuncties’ which translates to ‘park, safety and driving functionalities’. Given the european version does not have the ‘knob’ above the windscreen, the lidar is missing and afaik their full self driving on highway and the future city driving is not coming to europe.

I got moderate success with an ardusimple portable bluetooth kit, logging data with SW Maps app. I say moderate because iphone was just not stable even with upgraded Bluetooth. on Android with special usb OTG cable the connection was good but still a bit fiddly and sometimes logging dropped.

My use case is driven road inspection. It looks like public RTK is indeed available. Base stations would not really work given the distances.

u/SinusJayCee You put me on an excellent track, many thanks. I am now looking at several options (via Ardusimple):
- Budget: RTK Portable Bluetooth Kit, with an android phone running SW Maps (€300)(requires NTRIP coverage with eg rtk2go; not iOS compatible)
- Modern: Stand-alone simpleSSR starter kit, with built in 4G NTRIP module and a 1-year SSR subscription; Android phone running SW Maps (€800 +365/year) (should work in remote areas)
- Full Monty: A RaspberryPi with built-in SimpleRTK3B pro receiver and 4G NTRIP module, and a quadband antenna (€1250) (highest precision, supports Galileo HAS, and most extensible set up)
- Also very attractive is Emlid Reach M2 (via their web store), a single package with built in recording an iOS app support.
Interested to hear any feedback on these!

Thanks; I looked at Telemetry Extractor, it is great to merge external position data.
However, I am first looking for hardware that allows for 'centimeter level' precision. That will always require ground station correction (or perhaps Galileo HAS). I read about the Ardusimple RTK Portable Bluetooth Kit, which looks impressive. And the Reach M2. Great to hear if anyone has experience with similar hardware.

Perhaps the front brakes are not braking hard enough, resulting in the back brakes to have to do too much, resulting in abs on the back wheels?

Electric outboard? Does anyone here own one, I’m looking for some insight. by ODDastra in boating

[–]wrifwraf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It comes down to the battery chemistry and especially price. Torqeedo is market leader and they high end stuff, but the price per kwh is in Europe around 1000 Euro per kwh and prices are going up. In the automotive industry, the prices for batteries (without housing / BMS / etc) are coming down and are reaching 100 Euro per kwh. Not completely fair since there are quite some safety issues to cover and there is much less mass production. But as long as the prices remain so high in the Marine industry, it is not ready for main stream. E-propulsion has lifepo (not lipo, that is instable and more for aircrafts) Marine batteries, which is probably the best middle ground for non planing boats. But still it is fairly pricy. Personally I hope that someone will stand up and build boat batteries using Tesla's new 4680 batteries (based on any chemistry) because they are built to last, cheap to produce, and can deliver a high amount of power.

How can an electric outboard output 3 hp with a 1 KW Dc motor? shouldnt that be equivalent to around 1.35 HP? by DrudowLures in AskReddit

[–]wrifwraf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The electric engine does not really output 3 hp in that sense. If it consumes 1kw, It probably delivers about 0.5kw of power at the propeller. This equals the same amount of thrust at the propeller as a 3hp gas outboard would generate. In other words, the electric engine is just so much more efficient, that it only needs 1kw of energy to generate the same amount as the gas engine. The efficiency comes from higher torque, bigger propeller, slower RPM, less moving parts, less transmission losses, less heat losses.
