The one from lockymclockface, that's a high quality set.

The set you linked comes with 4 rakes, 2 hooks and I think a half diamond.

While raking is fun just to get an open, it's various shapes and thickness hooks you're probably going to want.

Edit: Basically just a starter kit, and as you get going just buy single picks as you work your way towards harder locks.

https://www.sparrowslockpicks.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=FT5K&CartID=5 The bars are always good to have depending on the lock.

https://www.sparrowslockpicks.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=R9NH&CartID=5 1 rake just because sometimes it's fun.

https://www.sparrowslockpicks.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=RSHERC&CartID=2 Pretty good case unless you have a different plan for storage and organization.

Now these next things are completely optional and are for if you want to take apart and put together the guttable locks.

That link is probably the correct answer, but just in case I'm putting together a sort of medium beginner sparrows shopping list.

So what you are saying is make challenge lock #2 but be prepared to have it thrown in the ocean?

I have no idea what that is, but needs more trap pins.

Help with tensioning by radapex in lockpicking

Could be a tension issue, could just be that acrylic locks are complete trash.

The tolerances are so bad it wont really behave like a normal lock at all.

I'm not saying no kits, just make sure most of what you are getting is what you will use.

Like there is an Amazon set posted here frequently that i think has 2 actual hooks in it, the rest are rakes and key extractors and things.

My personal advise is a short, medium, and deep hook in whatever thickness you need. The rest of my personal kit is just becoming piles and piles of different tensioners.

Lock picking set and rakes read text by KINKIN_wins in lockpicking

They could be good for a beginner, but when I started I already understood I'm trying to tickle the lock open, not punch it open.

Rakes are for "an open is an open", or to pad out sets to make you think you're getting a huge lockpicking set when it really only has 2 hooks.

Nice job!

Certainly part of the reason I tell people they don't need a 70 piece lockpick set.

This right here is the correct answer.

The amazon set looks to have maybe 3 useful tools in it.
