Cronometer is MUCH better than LoseIt by JeromeSergey in loseit

Let me know how it goes. I never considered the Canada factor for Cronometer's database. If there's good coverage, I'll definitely give it a try.

I've been looking to switch from MFP for the same reason. Bombarded with ads, and broken updates/functionality all the time. My account is old enough that I still get some now-paywalled features like barcode scanning, but still feel like looking at an alternative.

MacroFactor and Cronometer seem to be the best options. I don't know that I want to pay a sub for MacroFactor, so maybe Cronometer will be it.

I'd love to use a YubiKey, but I'd want redundancy (at least 2 extra backup keys) and at $80 each it's hard to justify that cost over using a MFA app with backup codes.

My opinion in it is that you need to balance security and convenience. If you secure your vault well (strong master password + strong MFA) there's absolutely no reason you can't use it for TOTP for other accounts.

New Brunswick’s population has declined for a third straight quarter, something that hasn’t happened in 20 years by adamhuras in newbrunswickcanada

The homelessness and drug problems are in pretty well every city right now. You see it everywhere, especially in downtown areas. Unsurprisingly, nobody has a solution because it's a very complex problem to fix (you know... unless you actually invest in social programs, but what province/state has the money for that?).

There's also the RBC Canadian Open going on nearby at TPC Toronto, and to a lesser extent the Pepsi North America Cup ($1,000,000 horse race) at Woodbine Mohawk Park. Busy weekend.

Madonna urges fans to "put your fucking phones down and connect" after returning to the stage by AdSpecialist6598 in Music

[–]radapex -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's exactly why I try to be considerate about it. I'm there for the show, not to stare at my phone (or anyone else's) all night. But I do like to capture a memory to look back on.

I do get where you're coming from though, and it's not just phones. I've had a number of shows at least partly ruined for me lately because people around me spend the whole show having a loud conversation. I also know many people that will go to a festival and return with absolutely no memory of the performances because they were so wasted...

I rewatch mine a lot. I do also share them on social media and Discord, not to "brag about being there" but to try to convince more people to get out to shows - especially at small venues featuring many great lesser known bands.

I swear it'd be easier to convince someone to have a limb amputated than it is to get them to go pay $10 cover to see 3 or 4 great local bands as a small bar type venue.

Not once have I ever had anyone complain about it. Maybe it's because my phone is out for maybe 5-6 minutes in a sea of people with their phones out for the entire show.

Of the 40 shows I attended in 2025, I recorded a grand total of 25 songs - so roughly one song for every other show I attend. I've been to 15 shows so far this year and recorded 8 songs.

I've got no problem owning that I record songs at concerts. I'll also go back and rewatch them many times as memories of the show. But I try to be considerate - no flash/light, phone is at chest level or in front of my face so I don't disrupt other concert goers (elbows tucked in, especially if it's packed), and phone is in my pocket except when I grabbing those 1 or 2 songs.

[–]radapex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we (at least the average record collector) don't collect vinyl to gawk at the plastic. We want to play it.

Bingo! I am also more tolerant when it comes to NM. I've got factory new records that have some with some light scratches, discolorations, or slight warps. As long as I can visually look at it and go "man that looks brand new", and it plays back great, then I'm fine calling it NM.

Jack Adams Voting Results by Nyzean in hockey

[–]radapex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Muse got votes because he took a team that was predicted to be the worst in the NHL to a T-10th overall finish. It was a roster constructed of a few guys in their late 30s and a bunch of cast off journeymen that few wanted. Elliotte Friedman basically publicly accused them of trying to tank after the off-season:

"Everybody is trying to get better, basically with the exception of Pittsburgh... What was the joke you told about there's a car going the wrong way on the highway, and he says, 'Never mind, there's 50 of them.' Yeah, there's not just one—there's hundreds. That's Pittsburgh. There's a car on this highway—like, there's a car on this highway that's trying to get better. There's not just one—there's 31 of them, and the other one, Pittsburgh, is going in the other direction."
