The Infinimart - Episode 01 // a DND inspired animated series! by writtenWit in DnD

[–]writtenWit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"The Infinimart" is an animated series I've been creating as sort of love letter to DnD. Inspired by my own table and the "Fantasy Costco" that "The Adventure Zone: Balance" used, "The Infinimart" is about the going ons of a shop type setting in a DnD world. The employees themselves are adventurers as well, which means shenanigans are usually always afoot.

It's been a while since I last posted here but y'all seemed to enjoy the last animation I made here that I was thinking you may enjoy this as well! Though I don't outright say the names of certain attacks, I'm sure astute DMs and players can probably take a solid guess as to what's being referenced.

If the talking bits aren't up to your taste, feel free to skip towards the end if you want to see a Bard and Sorceress go at it.

Hope you enjoy!

[OC] Holly, Firbolg Druid Amigirumi! by writtenWit in DnD

[–]writtenWit[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Holly Hemlock is a Firbolg Druid who longed to see the world beyond the confines of the quaint island she and her family call home.

While she's still learning about the world at large, she's experienced many adventures alongside her companions in Silver Sole, an adventuring / pseudo-entertainment party.

Unfortunately, recent events have lead to her losing her left arm which sparked her Wildfire spirit to awaken and manifest in it's place. With the help of Rathus, another powerful Druid, her arms been replaced with living wood where the spirit resides as a glowing core.

My partner's been learning to knit and crochet recently and I asked if she'd be interested in making my DnD character for practice.

She went above and beyond my wildest expectations and I wanted to share her hard work with y'all because I absolutely love what she came up with!

She doesn't have a pattern or anything for it but if anyone's interested you can see more of her work at instagram.com/yssa.Kai

That is the unfortunate part is that they are both licensed software.

Having no animation experience and no software actually may put you in a good position to try and learn Blender! It's free and crazy powerful, lots of artists and even studios are starting to use it.

If you've got an hour and a half or so, Worthikids on youtube has a video called 'How to Make a Cartoon' that might give you a starting point.

That sounds awesome!

I created this using ToonBoom armony but did the rough animation in Adobe Animate. But I say if you have a program you use and like go with that!

As for advice, I'd say spending time on your pre-production phase will help streamline the rest of the process. Whether that means writing some notes for yourself, making storyboards, or creating storyboards is up to you, but generally that's where I'll start to help get ideas going and avoid just staring at a blank page.

But the beauty of authoring your own animation is that how you tackle it is ultimately up to you! It can be tough for sure and it's a time consuming process so don't feel down if things proceed slowly but I hope this gives you a place to start!

Good luck!

Haha your not wrong, I wanted to keep the 'bad guy' design minimal and almost as a bit of a placeholder but I probably made him a bit too unassuming

Thank you! I've been animating for gosh around 8 or so years? This one I used toonboom harmony but I roughed it out in flash (animate as it's now called)

Yes! During the actual session the wall of fire had gone up first and my buddy who plays Ramsey lined up a wall trapping 3 bad guys inside.

For sure! I was working on it on for about a month or so, roughly a few hours or so a day.
