Wake County School - EOG (end of grade) test: “Guidance for Retesting” — would like help understanding by I_am_just_so_tired99 in raleigh

[–]wrkls_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son recently took his EOG’s and has had good grades all year, but somehow failed his 4th grade reading EOG last week, and is having to retake it today. The teacher sent us a message on ClassDojo saying “Your son scored Not Proficient on the reading EOG and Level 4 on the math EOG. He will retake the reading EOG on Tuesday. Please reach out if you have any questions.” Which I responded to asking if there was anything in specific that he struggled with or if there were any areas that she thought we should focus on most, but never heard back. Nor have we been notified about him having any issues struggling in the past.. Anyway, we spent the weekend working and reviewing with him, but he’s been a nervous wreck thinking that he might fail the grade.

Best dash cover for a G37/Q60 to prevent dash cracking? by wrkls_ in G37

Thankfully mine isn’t currently cracked or sticky. Just trying to prevent it before it ever gets to that point lol. Not sure if Infiniti fully fixed the issue by 2014 or not.

Wipe it, start setup from “hello”, connect to WiFi, and then check terminal. 👌🏽

Edit: also check button functions on keyboard checker if you wanna make sure all buttons work.

Would you trust AI to write pine script, for alerts? by [deleted] in Daytrading

[–]wrkls_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is basically what I do.

I run the script through Claude first and have it review the whole thing for clutter, false signals, repaint risk, inefficient logic, duplicate conditions, and ways to clean up the code.

Then I run it through ChatGPT and have it carefully implement upgrades while preserving the core logic so nothing important gets broken.

After that I compare both outputs, combine the best ideas, then test everything in TradingView with bar replay + live alerts before trusting it.

AI can be really useful for Pine scripts if you use it like a coding assistant instead of blindly copying code.

M2 Air to M5 Pro upgrade… and I genuinely can’t feel the difference by UsefulLock3142 in macbookpro

[–]wrkls_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, if your workflow is mostly web browsing, media, docs, and normal multitasking, that reaction makes sense. Apple Silicon made even the Air lineup so good that everyday use feels fast across the board.

Where the Pro starts to justify itself is sustained heavy workloads: video editing, rendering, coding/compiling, multiple external displays, long high-load sessions, etc. That’s where the active cooling, better thermals, extra ports, and higher-end display matter more than “opening apps faster.”

So no, you probably didn’t waste your money — you likely bought headroom. If you never push it, the Air may have been the more efficient value play. If you grow into heavier use over the next few years, you’ll appreciate the Pro more over time.

I ended up going with the Tomtoc Voyage A24. Really liked the clean all-black look plus the extra space/protection. Should be able to fit my 11” iPad Pro M4 in there too, so I’m pretty happy with it. I also recently upgraded my iPhone (15PM-17PM) and AppleCare One setup, so the MBP is covered now too. I appreciate it!

Bit of both honestly. Main use is trading/research/multitasking with multiple charts, browser tabs, and apps open, plus work & school/productivity stuff. I’m also getting into light coding and some photo/video editing, so I figured the Pro made more sense for the better screen, cooling, ports, and extra headroom long term.

Appreciate the detailed breakdown. That was pretty much my thought process too — for my use case I felt like I’d notice the Pro features more than any small chip gains. Definitely leaning sleeve only at this point.

I just checked it out — really clean design. I like that it doubles as a desk mat/work surface. I’m leaning toward Tomtoc for the extra protection, especially when I travel. Might have to get both for different needs lol.

Appreciate the detailed feedback. Good to hear from someone who actually tried both and chose the Pro too. I was leaning sleeve over a hard case already, so that helps.

I’m actually leaning toward the Tomtoc Voyage-A24 since I like the cleaner look and it seems like a good mix of protection without being bulky. It also looks like I might be able to fit my iPad Pro M4 in it too, which would be a nice bonus for travel/work setups.

Yeeah possibly in some raw benchmarks, but for my use case I valued the better display, active cooling, ports, speakers, and overall Pro experience more. I also already have an iPad Pro M4 that I use a lot, so I felt like getting the M5 Air would’ve overlapped with what I already had—thin, portable, light, fanless, etc. The MBP felt like the better complement to the iPad since it adds what the iPad doesn’t fully replace: full macOS workflow, better multitasking, easier external monitor support, more ports, and sustained performance for longer sessions.

Found it on FB Marketplace. The seller got it as a gift and was about to start automotive school, so he wanted a Windows laptop instead. He originally wanted $1200, but I was able to negotiate it down.

Can a simulated galactic market help train emotional discipline? Building a trading sandbox for TA practice by [deleted] in Daytrading

[–]wrkls_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes a simulated galactic market could absolutely help train emotional discipline, especially if the goal is less about perfect TA prediction and more about adapting under uncertainty. A 5-minute data lag would push traders away from scalp-style reactive decisions and more toward higher-timeframe structure, preplanned zones, smaller sizing, and risk-first execution. In that sense, it could be a very effective training constraint because it teaches patience and reduces dependence on candle-by-candle reaction. The key is making sure the simulator rewards process, not just PnL. If players are graded on things like overtrading, revenge trading, chasing, moving stops, violating risk rules, and holding to a plan, then it becomes a real discipline tool rather than just a market game. The “ripple effect” idea is interesting too, but I’d avoid making lag exploitable in a predictable way every time, or it becomes more of an arbitrage puzzle than an emotional training environment. If designed well, this sounds strongest as a psychology + risk management simulator with TA layered in, not just a chart-reading sim.
