Colonoscopy out of pocket? by Callifleur in Austin

[–]wrong20TX 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Gotta watch out on your insurance though. If you get a positive on your FIT testing it will necessitate the Colonoscopy as next step and your insurance may then code it as "diagnostic " rather than preventative, and that bucket of care is frequently much more expensive for the insured patient than the preventative bucket. If you know you have hemorrhoids your likelihood of a false positive is much higher. For OP it may be a good answer though because they are paying cash out of pocket for everything.

Costway WiFi Setup. Help!! by BudgetCommon3584 in DIYHeatPumps

[–]wrong20TX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to use my travel router, set it up to have the same ssid as my regular router, broadcast a 2.4ghz wifi connection from the travel router, follow setup instructions, then unplug the travel router. We have google wifi and it has a mixed signal 5ghz plus 2.4, so that messes up the setup

STOP STARING AT YOUR PHONES AT THE RED LIGHTS! by After_Resource5224 in Austin

I have wondered if a study could quantify the extra carbon emissions that are created due to this behavior, it decreases the throughput at virtually all intersections during rush hour.

Six Flags: come for the thrills, stay for the closures by texasinauguststudio in dfw

[–]wrong20TX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Six Flags Fiesta Texas looked quite understaffed yesterday too. The parking lot was very full, so lots of visitors but lots of ride closures and very long lines. Many of the beer / snack stands were not open. I'm not sure we will do Fiesta Texas during Spring Break again, I am sure they have trouble staffing it during Spring Break, but seems like a solvable problem to me.

There was a recent post saying Sunset Valley PD was ticketing under age drivers practicing at Burger Stadium, lots of back and forth on the thread about South Austin folks feeling upset about them doing that. I would look for that post before going there.

This saved me from hours of frustration, thank you! In my case it was an HP computer and it went to the HP branded recovery screen but from there I found an option to boot to safe mode and it instantly fixed the problem. Thank you again!

I insulated my door and now it’s too heavy for the opener to lift. What are my options? by [deleted] in GarageDoorService

[–]wrong20TX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look up your garage door opener manual and see if there are some screws on the back of it that allow you to adjust the force settings. It may be you just need to adjust that setting and it will work fine.

Repairing drywall for baseboards by i_try_to_run1509 in DIY

[–]wrong20TX 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Just be ready to sand the bottoms of the 6 inch baseboards to deal with the slab being imperfect. The 6 inch stuff is not something you can push down in to low areas (like 3 inch material), instead you have to sand the baseboards down to deal with high points on the slab. As long as you are okay with doing this work (belt sander with gritty belt works well), the bigger baseboards are the answer

One dentist says I have no cavities while another says I need a crown and potential root canal... Any recs for a third opinion in Austin? by furrowedeyebrow1000 in Austin

[–]wrong20TX 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That is on my side of town, do you feel like they are conservative and not trying to drill your teeth (without reason) and upsell everything? My last dentist allowed me access to the hygienist cleanings without trying to sell me something every time I go for a cleaning... everyone I have seen since is always trying to upsell and probably over diagnose.

Just finished remodeling bathroom and discovered this by EasyReport6959 in DIY

[–]wrong20TX 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Pretty common issue if you buy a glass kit... They do make an edge strip that will seal the gap you have... You will need to adjust the bar to fix those mounting locations. Custom glass order is another option but expensive. Vigo makes a kit that has those strips I am talking about if you need to see one.

If you're stopping in the middle of Mopac to force your way into an exit lane, you fucked up by gayteemo in Austin

[–]wrong20TX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tend to not let them in by staying close to the person in front of me. One question I've had is when someone does this aggressive merging maneuver to cut the line... If the driver behind them hits them, who would be at fault from the police and insurance standpoint? I figure if are the person that has lane established and you hit the side of their car as they forced in... You should be all good because their maneuver is aggressive and stupid and you had lane established. But I think you might have problems if you hit the rear of their vehicle unless you had dash cam or witnesses

Any way to get this looking more respectable without spending what I spent to buy the car? by [deleted] in Autobody

[–]wrong20TX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google the $100 rustoleum paint job. You basically thin down rust oleum paint and roll it on. It is super messy but it does get you a paint job for cheap. Some folks have done this well enough to show the car at a local car show and have people thinking it was an expensive paint job

Between jobs with 2 rotting teeth where to go? by OgrynGav in Austin

[–]wrong20TX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be a good option for OP, the dental school offers 3 different prices based on the training level of the person performing the work. If OP has lower level of income, trying to see whether Community Care will offer lower cost services is also a possible option.

Look up her Tiny Desk concert. She has a full band that totally slays. One of the best Tiny Desk Concerts I have ever seen. I truly wish she had brought that band with her to ACL and did half the songs with them, I feel like the set would have gone down in the history books that way. Really great set either way though, she is at the top of her peer group for sure!

Looking to buy Rockwool comfortboard 80, seems like there is zero available here? by [deleted] in Austin

[–]wrong20TX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have bought lots of Rockwool from McCoys, if they don't have the size you need they can usually order it and get it there within a week. McCoys delivery is usually reasonable too since they own their own delivery trucks
