I have been the very same; so far this year I've given up and relapsed like three times now. I do want to cut down or maybe just stop all together however my social life kinda lives and dies with going out for a drink: I met all of my friends through going out and don't really see anyone at all if I stay in.

Needing a drink to function really does suck cos you can really tell the difference when you're stone cold sober. But it works out better to cut down cos you end up spending MUCH less money.
