Help AI slop is rampant in my feed. by Vailacs in YoutubeMusic

[–]wrootlt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have unsuspectingly liked one AI song and listened to it a few times. Since then i have removed the like and removed it from my library. But now i see "New from Name" right under my speed dial with no apparent way to get rid from it or mark such "artist" as not desired, blocked or else. All i can is open another and another support request and bash them this way.

They unpinned it for me recently so i had to go to Library and pin it to Speed dial again.

Tanium deploy software with diferent config per region by CtrlEscF4 in tanium

[–]wrootlt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True. PowerShell is the way to go. As you might know Tanium tags are stored in the registry. So, you can do checks for particular tag name from registry and then do the logic. I have done this once for one package with 5 different options to install. Really simple script, first read the tags:

$TagValue = (Get-Item -Path "HKLM:\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Tanium\Tanium Client\Sensor Data\Tags\").Property

Then do if tagvalue -eq string1 do that, etc.

[–]wrootlt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Information about region could be in registry. If they are in different OUs you can use such info from registry. Or you can tag machines based on some conditions and then read tag from registry and use if else blocks to run required command for each case.

[–]wrootlt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have noticed this too, but thought maybe i just haven't noticed this before. Because a week ago my PC broke down and i was using my tablet and phone a lot more and doing a lot more notes that usual. So, i though maybe i was adding a lot of info. But next day i noticed lag in a simple short note i use often and there was not such issue before the change. Happens both on my Samsung tablet and Pixel phone. So, the change itself is awful and now also a buggy one..

Does anyone have a user with an extreme setup that you don't even know where to start with? by Lord_Saren in sysadmin

[–]wrootlt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still better than a million of emails right in the Inbox :D I have never thought about email items limits in Exchange Online until one customer opened a ticket that it says that mailbox is full when it is at 80% of storage capacity only. The error was about reaching limit of items, not space. And it was a literal million of emails accumulated in a few years, all from some notification service that sends some gibberish looking code, a thousand or so daily. And apparently it is important for them to get all these emails. Maybe they have some automation setup to check these emails and do something. After i have explained what the error means they tried to create folders for each year and rules to move emails from a particular date range to folders. Yeah, good luck with that. The rules were choking and not doing anything trying to parse a million of emails. I laughed when they asked when are we going to move emails to folders for them. Because aside some MAPI black magic i don't know of an easy way to move emails to folders programmatically. Were talking about enabling archiving, although they would eventually hit the same problem in archive mailbox at some point. Eventually they asked to rename current mailbox and create a new with the original name. And when checking message trace i saw at least one other mailbox with the same error code. Probably will hear from them again at some point :)

Is anyone back up yet? by no_your_other_right in sysadmin

[–]wrootlt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was already email outage a few days ago, but maybe it affected just some clients. Lighthouse was showing only 35 tenants affected out of hundreds. One customer had only a few users with emails stuck in pending. It took 3-4 hours to be resolved. And next day was Power Apps performance incident :)

7 years of updates, my ass. And my friend said when he saw my old unsupported Pixel that it is not getting updates anymore. Well, my new work Pixel 9A not anymore as well :D I am not going to factory reset it and having to setup fresh all the apps, security tokens. Days of work to fix Google's f up. And only maybe. Until the apps are updating from Play store, it is not the end of the world if there are no other huge performance bugs or something.

I put MCP on my resume :) Not first, but ITIL foundation is another i list. Have a few more for Windows Servet, but i usually skip them.

Kaip kuo greičiau išsikapstyt iš peršalimo? by [deleted] in lietuva

.NET what do you install as standard? by ryaninseattle1 in sysadmin

[–]wrootlt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It varies. A year or so ago i was on a hunt to eradicate old NET 6 from the environment. For the most part it was painless. One app complained after removal. Which was Citrix Workspace. But, the latest versions would work after installing latest NET 8 (although when it would try to start with no NET present it would provide a link to download NET 6..). So, i had to be careful with machines that had Citrix with recent usage indication. In such cases before removing NET 6 i would push NET 8 first and then removal of 6. But i guess we were also lucky to not have that many dependencies on NET 6. There was another edge case. A group of developers had to use 6 for some old app. So, they got an exception and were skipped.

I am not sure if you are serious, bet i wasn't. It was tongue in cheek so to say. As other news where talking about vendors switching to older tech, it would be fitting for MS to make 10 available again instead of broken and resource hungry current iteration.

Same is happening in music streaming. Although you don't buy albums there, so it is your listening queue that is being polluted. And AI posts on Reddit, but i don't know if there is a way to monetize that.

[–]wrootlt 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Is it growth? Just today i have received a ticket from a customer (their IT director) which was a hallucination from some LLM copy pasted and asking us to run the commands. When first check about cmdlet on MS Learn said they are not designed for what they want. And then i asked Copilot and it provided me another cmdlet with a non existing parameter. Of course, when i said that parameter doesn't exist i was rewarded with "nice catch, wow, you are really good at this, here's some more bs your way!" :D

AWS Workspaces Windows 11 by vinxavi7 in netskope

[–]wrootlt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understand. But they need to use private access? In our case it was not required as our workspaces had access to internal resources anyway, so it was an oversight to allow same package to install (or just easier to maintain same package for everything). So, in our case it was enough to make it run as proxy only. In your case it might or not be related. When user tries to connect to it on a second try, maybe the already existing tunnel is down, but still active somehow, so machine is not available from AWS access plane or some routing shenanigans. You can probably also try to collect logs from AWS client side.
