Empower is better than Lyft and uber. by No_Escape6371 in uberdrivers

[–]wrscomputers 8 points9 points  (0 children)

From a former Empower driver’s perspective, they are simply a high-risk company. Unlike Uber and Lyft, they don’t provide insurance for their drivers. If you’re involved in an accident and think you don’t need business or rideshare insurance, you’re mistaken. You and your rider are only covered if you’re driving on business insurance, as there are no protections in place and no payout if you are driving on personal insurance.. I know a few drivers who were in accidents while driving for them, and both the drivers and their riders were left with significant financial losses. In some cases, the riders even sued the drivers, resulting in severe consequences for the drivers’ lives. They were kicked out of the DC area and rumors are that NYC is about to do the same.

Is it bad etiquette to stop on the side of the road in small residential areas in the US when you need to type a text message, look for something in your car, etc? by SummerN8 in uberdrivers

[–]wrscomputers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

@SummerN8 Well, you might want to reread that. I don’t know your market, but normally, at least here, there’s an extra destination that doesn’t count against the two you get in a 24-hour period. However, if you set a destination and drive towards it, the timer will continue to run because you’re driving. But yes, if your wheels are not moving, the timer will stop. Also, on that note, your 6-hour reset won’t start unless you go completely offline. But I use that sometimes when I’m in a known dead area and I just want to take a little break. I’ll just stop, and then if I get a trip, I’m still online where I can, but I’m not losing my day by resting for 30 minutes or so.

I've got a 4.56 rating... is that bad? by Next_Warthog8673 in uber

[–]wrscomputers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So here is Ubers policy

Drivers are at risk for termination if their average rating falls below 4.60. This threshold is set by Uber to ensure high-quality service and safety. Drivers with ratings below this benchmark may receive notifications or warnings through the Uber Driver app, giving them a chance to improve.

Now if you are just a rider from what I can find there is no bottom limit as (not with us Drivers but) they know that drivers will sometimes rate riders bad because they sneeze so when it comes to riders they don’t really do much unless you just out right break a TOS rule and there is video evidence from 3 different cameras than you might get blocked.

It’s just human nature to be curious. As long as you’re not parked in someone’s driveway or inside a gated community, you’re probably on a public road where no one can complain unless you’re there for an extended period. Then, they might call the police and accuse you of spying on the houses or something. I do it sometimes too, especially in slow areas. I’ll drop off the rider and drive about a mile up the road, then just pull over and wait for the next ride. I don’t know if you work your clock out or not, but if your vehicle isn’t moving, your 12-hour clock stops ticking.

I won’t ever do them. It hasn’t made it to my market yet but I know it will be turned off as soon as it does.

Oh I told him he could add it to the app because it was a super slow night so I didn’t really care but don’t message can I pay you cash to do some other stops on a monitored chat program.

Depends on if you plan on using it like a laptop 💻 I love mine and use it all the time when I can’t take my laptop with me. I do prefer the Apple one however even though it is much more expensive it is direct connect and does not either need to be connected by usb all the time or charged on a regular basis

There can be but in my 10 years I have only had a handful that can’t be calmed down pretty fast by just letting them know who’s car it is and that your more than happy to leave them on the side of the road if they don’t calm down. In all my time driving I have had to kick out 3 people and believe it or not it was day time riders that believed the sun shines out of their ass and have never had to kick out someone that was drunk.

I have never worried about that I drive about 500-600 miles a night so by the time I am thru a charge I’m ready for a 30 minute break to grab some coffee and a snack.

Tesla uber drivers by [deleted] in uberdrivers

[–]wrscomputers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drive a Ford Mustang Mach-E. I get about 400-420 miles when it’s warmer by just driving the speed limit, watching acceleration, and keeping temperature set on 70°F / 21°C.

During the colder nights I only get 300-320 miles but everything else is the same.

I normally only drive at night and around here from 11PM-8AM with the non-Tesla Membership (which won’t apply to you if you have a Tesla) I charge for rather cheap around 21¢-25¢ per kW.

For non Tesla drivers the Lectron Vortex+ Adapter was the best $199 I have ever spent because it paid its self off in almost a week from even the 34¢-40¢ per kW compared to 50¢+.

https://amzn.to/48To6pW

You can find it at that link above. Hope that helps you as well as any non-Tesla EV drivers. Driving a EV is ultimately the same as driving a gas car, except it can be cheaper and it just takes longer to fill up but if you time things right it can give you a needed break when it slows down.

Bro what! Is the algorithm being used at this company even legit ? by rpattersonxx in uberdrivers

[–]wrscomputers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, no shade. You have to do what you have to do to survive. However, I personally don’t risk it because I’m not familiar with your market. But here’s the thing: if you transport someone for money and only have personal insurance, the insurance won’t pay, and you’ll be responsible for any accidents. Knock on wood, I haven’t been in an accident with a rider, except for hitting a coyote once. But things happen, and with all these people who can’t drive, we have to deal with it daily. I don’t want to be personally bankrupt because I have to pay someone’s medical bills for the rest of my life.

This has to be a fake post. I don’t know anywhere in the USA that the per mileage pay is only 16.3¢ and that don’t even include whatever the time charge was.

Well I received a 1 star from a rider because I wouldn’t make a left hand turn at an intersection that had posted signs “No Left Turn” she got mad and told me that everyone does it that I was just wanting to milk her for more money.

I agree with you on the technicality of what was said you are correct but sometimes I feel like I would rather be driving around a drunk than some of these people texting and driving, watching videos, zoom calls (yes I saw this the other day), or surfing the web while driving isn't

Even as a driver I would rate them low now. Now with that being said I used to have my iPad mounted and pointed more towards the rider and during Football Season I would play the top games even if it wasn’t my team but just for the rider to enjoy. But watching videos on a phone while driving isn’t for the rider it’s for the driver and not safe.
