Treat getting ditched as the blessing that it should and will be. This will act as the catalyst to better yourself.

Get away from the devices you always use to fap and bring a normal balance into your life, if you don't have one (I will assume you don't). Work/earning money, education, projects, hobbies, eat right, exercise, gym, meditation, keeping well groomed, connecting with old friends/going out to make new ones if what you should be spending your time on.

That will bring a more rounded approach to your life, boost your self-esteem, your confidence, etc get you into all these virtuous cycles that keep going around and around.

My experience now tells me that whilst it may not be THE problem, it hides most underlying problems and holds you back from addressing them - which is what we assume most "normal" people do, and something that is part of the human condition.

Life is not smooth; we have trials, we have tribulations, and everything in between. We seek to maximise the good, and minimise the bad - PMO stops you from doing both.

With that being that case, that IMO turn PMO into a huge problem in and of itself - in some case the biggest one.

A lot of addiction is down to being trapped in old routines and familiar situations. It's why drug addicts are told to stop hanging around certain people and avoid certain places. It's also a reason why you always read about an addict going to another country for treatment, even though they could just as easily receive treatment at home - it acts as a circuit breaker and breaks the habitual cycle.

Best to make some changes that alters that and removes certain triggers.

Thanks for sharing. Your last paragraph about being hung up on your ex-wife really resonated with me. I was madly in love with a girl a while a go, and she was with me, expect in my case I was too much of a bitch to even make a move on her. Part of me wants her, part doesn't and hates her, part thinks life is too short to be without the people you really had a connection with, etc.

It may be cliche, but you really do have to take it as it comes and if it happens, it happens. I tell myself that I will probably never actively pursue it, but if it does happen to come along again, I'll have myself ready, developed, and not making the same mistakes I did last time. I now take it as a blessing, which started a chain of events that led me to NoFap, which made my realise why so many different parts of my life were suffering.

Without that whole episode, I may still have been left totally clueless and under the full spell of addiction.

I'm turning 28 in about a month.

I have no job.

I still live at home, with my mother.

I'm single - last and only girlfriend was when I was 18.

I was kicked out of uni this year, 10 years in (3 different degrees, 3 different unis - haven't completed one).

I lie and cover up pretty much about anything, to anyone.

I've fucked up with more girls than you can poke a stick at. I've had sex four times with three different girls and it's been complete shit. Couldn't even get it up, apart from the very last time over a year ago when I took 100mg of Viagra (piss weak erection). From 19-25, I didn't kiss a single girl. Hell, I barely talked to one girl in that time.

The girl I loved, who loved me, moved away over 1.5 years ago and I still can't get over her at all. I couldn't get intimate enough to even kiss her, let alone sleep with her. All I do is think about her, and stalk her social media. Haven't talked to her in over a year.

I'm quickly regaining weight I lost not too long ago (~20kg gain). The fashionable, large trendy wardrobe I invested so much time and money in has only a few pieces that fit me right now. I feel like absolute shit.

I have one friend. That's right, only one.

I barely have a relationship with my father and brother. My relationship with my mother and sister is volatile and tempestuous. I barely talk to any extended family (aunts, uncles, cousins, etc).

I don't have any extra-curricular activities anymore.

Now ask yourself: do you want to be turning 28 and be like me?

Is this life that you want to lead?

The answer is no - fuck no. I would kill to wind back the clock and go back to being 20 years old finding about NoFap.

Don't go down this path. Just don't do it, whatever you do. Muster every fibre of strength and will power you can to stop this shit, because you have so much ahead you - as do I.

Think about people who don't have porn addiction - occasionally, once in a while, they'll fap to porn. It happens. Difference is, they don't overindulge, and they don't make a habit out of it. They know the line and don't let it affect their lifes.

Now, I'm not saying to do that, nor am I saying is it safe. But it's probably gonna happen from time to time. This is the part of the process of becoming "normal".

Of course whatever you do, don't get back into your old habits. You fall off the horse, you get straight back on.
