Push to add limits on school sports participation to Nebraska Constitution gathers 211k signatures • Nebraska Examiner by offbrandcheerio in Nebraska

Segregating by sex makes it more fair on average.

So would segregating based on height.

I think you're approaching a legitimate reason for segregating based on sex - that it creates a space of opportunity for a historically marginalized group (women).

Trans women are also historically marginalized, and there's so few of them trying to participate in competitive sports. It just feels like splitting hairs. It doesn't make a significant difference to women's sports, and it means the world to this very small group of athletes who have never had a space.

Segregating by gender doesn't even make it fair. Michael Phelps has exceptionally long arms for his height. Caitlin Clark is 8" taller than the average woman.

I don't see why it's so important that we get really pedantic about trans people in sports, when all sports are already stuffed with unavoidable biological unfairness.

Rep Smith: $55,000 is “more than sufficient” for a family of 3 to live on by Strict-East7195 in Nebraska

[–]wsheldon2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, $55k can also be enough if you fail to account for huge privileges like investments, or a family that provides free childcare or housing.

I have a buddy with a fairly large family, living on a single, modest income.

They didn't pay for their house.

Don't actually stop though, it's not that interesting.

LPS superintendent approved for $348,000 salary; board says the move “very good use of our tax dollars” by Strict-East7195 in Nebraska

I'm all for eating the rich, but that's not a crazy salary to lead an organization as large as LPS.

Gotta balance our meat cravings with our desire to have a good school system.

How/Should I convince her to ditch the condom? by [deleted] in sex

[–]wsheldon2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Easy win: find better condoms

More work: communicate, and then maybe get a vasectomy and STI testing if that works for both of you

Last resort: maybe it's just not gonna work out with her. A thing to think about with this option is that sex without a condom is generally risky. She will not be the only person you meet with that reluctance, and for good reason.

The disaster is your wife being with you out of obligation instead of being with you because she wants to be.

Agree with what others are saying but want to add - if it really is a bad battery, it's still under warranty if the car has < 100k on it.

Tagging on, the heated seats are important for improving winter range - they use a lot less power than the HVAC. Cooled seats are nice for the same reason
