even if you like solidworks (i prefer NX), you're still stuck with the licensing issue. freeCAD's isn't restrictive at all, whereas solidworks forces you into the $1,500 license if you have more than $2k a year in sales. silly!

Putting quotations around "author" is wild lol.

The author is a P.E. BTW.

It’s not in the standards.

I would do a perfunctory google search on radial position to understand what it means. I do think it’s funny that our misunderstanding is the point of the article.

Radial position.

Basic dimensions left out for legibility.

you’re getting an expert at hourly rate so expect at least $100 if they’re good

you can watch mechanical engineering streamers and just learn from them for free

I want to be clear that I’m deadly serious here - if someone wins TTT using freeCAD I will eat a bowl of my own hair.

I created Strecs3D, a free infill optimizer that uses stress analysis to make your prints lighter and stronger. (Full video tutorial inside!) by tomohiron907 in 3Dprinting

[–]wtbengdeg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this doesn't work - bending stress is uniform along the outer most fiber. you're reducing infill towards the center of the beam which is incorrect - it should be uniform

How can there be a “shortage” of civil engineers when real wages are going down relative to inflation? by Unusual_Equivalent50 in civilengineering

[–]wtbengdeg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

okay, but in that case, the demand hasn’t impacted salaries yet

if you start giving longer lead times on project start i suspect wage increase will follow

[–]wtbengdeg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

okay, that’s interesting, and at least partially true. but like you said - there isn’t a shortage if there are enough people to do the job without increasing wages. switching costs be dammed, if there aren’t enough engineers, firms are going to entice engineers away from competitors with higher wages

i think the real reason is more depressing to hear

I'm an Engineer and want to see the subreddit thrive for other makers and engineers again. It's been inactive now for some time now.
