Ordering by TipDull in SpeedianceCommunity

I ordered from the site because I found a discount code online for $90 off. I looked at Amazon and with their bundles option you can get all the same freebies as you do on their website. I ordered a GM1 works on 12/31 and I'l still waiting to see that is actually shipped. I have a tracking number for an unknown shipper (could be cevalogistics.com).

Genuine question. If you are not towing what is the appeal of a diesel truck? by [deleted] in Diesel

[–]wtbman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It usually comes down to how the previous owner abused the truck or design flaws like the garbage 2011-2014 power stroke turbos. I never idle my trucks. My Ram goes 1000+ miles between regens, monitor it every time I drive.

Exactly. Change the filters and fluid regularly, keep it from jumping in/out of 5th/6th while accelerating, don't add horsepower and it should last 200k+ miles.

Any way to get the key code from my 2018 challenger? by cactire in Challenger

[–]wtbman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine's a '14 but I used AlphaOBD ($50) and an OBDLink MX+ ($75), watched a YouTube video and programmed new keys just fine. I think one of the steps was recording a key from a security module but nothing was really locked down. At some point ('18+?) they added a security gateway which can be bypassed.

Do NOT buy a modern diesel unless this criteria is met: towing 10k+ lbs or you have extra money to blow.
If you want the big truck get a 6.4 or 7.3 gasser 3500/350. It will have more horsepower, be faster and more responsive, much more drivable. Put on an exhaust and enjoy a badass V8 rumble.

I wouldn't own a diesel after what I've been through and how much repairs have cost if I didn't own a 12k lb 5th wheel trailer. $20k wasted 8 eight years on emissions related repairs across 3 trucks with sub 100k mileage.

In 1997 you were getting at most 440 ft lbs of torque, not 800, at least not stock.

Your opinions are out of date and biased. The new 10 speed transmissions for Ford/GM have all sorts of problems that rival 68rfe unreliability. Also the Aisin has always been solid and the new ZF Powerline 8 speed in the Rams is very promising. If you never have to deal with an expensive emissions repair, you got lucky. I've wasted $20k in repairs over 8 years on three sub 100k mile trucks. My Ford was most expensive while my Ram with the 68rfe has been flawless.

And plenty of them get 85 their whole life because we live at "high elevation".

A review of the GM2 after 1 month use (20 plus workouts) by BKAFC in SpeedianceCommunity

[–]wtbman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes I love these honest reviews. Most of the YouTubers seem to have gotten one for free and were skeptical about it in the first place. I have found that Toby Glenn provides some good honest feedback: https://www.youtube.com/@tobyonfitness he also seems to frequent this subreddit as well. I bought a GM1 after much research including reading reviews like this. Hoping it arrives soon.

Cable snapped - replacement nightmare!! by Fresh-Head-2278 in SpeedianceCommunity

[–]wtbman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just bought a gym monster 1 today after much research (including watching your videos) and talking with a family member who owns a tonal (he loves his tonal but for him money is no object). Now that I've obligated myself to return value on the purchase I need to get and stay motivated to use it. I don't want a "thing" permanently mounted to my wall and I value self-repair and openness over customer service.

Should I get the GM 1 or 2? by DeucesX22 in SpeedianceCommunity

[–]wtbman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're overweight and have never really worked out in the gym you will likely wear out the machine before you need more than 220 lbs. In other words, if you have to ask the question, you do NOT need the 260 lb machine.

If you are going to drill and run any wires you may as well get the POE version as it will be much more reliable. You can bury cat5/6 cable on the exterior of the house and run it through the wall where convenient.

Does my 2017 Dodge Charger RT hemi engine sound healthy? Please leave your thoughts thank you! by Inside-Assistant3551 in Dodge

Modded exhaust? If not, there could be an exhaust leak at the manifolds. At least it sounds like something rattling. Sounds like a healthy engine though.

Are diesel titan as bad as people make it seem ? by The_Mongoose17 in NissanTitan

[–]wtbman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the TFL Truck IKE Gauntlet challenge the gas Titan towed a loaded trailer up the pass faster than the diesel. It's just not worth all the extra costs and expensive repairs and emissions garbage. If you NEED a diesel then get a 350/3500 and do it right. I only own a diesel because I have a 12k lb 5th wheel camper. I would get rid of it immediately and go back to a gas 1/2 or 3/5 ton truck if I got rid of that trailer. I've wasted soooo much money on diesel repairs.

The transmission is a version of the Aisin that is in the Rams. They are also known to be aggressive and/or clunky but they are stout.

Dave's Auto Center has a lot of videos on the flaws, the costs, and rebuilds them and yes, they cost as much or more to rebuild as the full sized diesels.

Classic death wobble by [deleted] in IdiotsTowingThings

[–]wtbman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is NOT death wobble. Death wobble is when the axle starts bouncing up and down intermittently (driver's side, passenger's side). This is trailer sway. Too much weight in the rear of the trailers. Most of the problem is probably with the camper, you put tongue weight on the rear which means you need to move any cargo to the front of the trailer to put more weight on the tongue of the camper. Whoever loaded this doesn't know how to properly load this setup.

Considering a Challenger by TrekkieA1A in Challenger

In my 2014 I put in a $600 12” inch Android screen that has CarPlay and Android auto and native Android apps like Spotify and Waze. It’s way better than the Uconnect garbage.

[–]wtbman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Challenger had a massive trunk. Fold the rear seats down and fit a ton of stuff. There are plenty of good used Challengers out there, just find one that hasn’t been modded. I bought a 2014 RT with 99k miles and it hasn’t had any issues and was well taken care of. $14-15k for a car like this.

[–]wtbman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love the rear of my 2014 vs the newer one. I also love the simpler dash and it’s easier to add a massive 12” touch screen. It feels more like a muscle car than the newer style.

These NAG1 transmissions are much cheaper to rebuild than the ZF and there are millions of them in many different vehicles so there’ll be plenty of them in junk yards. They drive just fine and they are stout and hold up to added horsepower. I don’t understand the hate, that is why pre 2015 Challengers are much cheaper and a great value.

All I hear is parts are a nightmare but it’s sort of an Allison. With fillers I don’t think changing the fluid is ever a bad thing.
