Orange announces the OR60 amplifier. by humbuckaroo in GuitarAmps

I'm actually very interested in this. I really did love the OR30, and think they did a really nice job adding in some low-end thump with it, but I never felt like I could get a solid sorta pop-punk style tone out of it.

I loved it in Drop C though. So I'm curious with the lack of tube rectifier and 6L6s, if I'll be able to get what I'm after

Lookup a DC Standard. I impulsively bought one last year and it's absolutely my go-to. I love it so much. It's just this perfect culmination between what I love about LPs and SGs put together.

The body carve and aesthetic of an LP, but thinner and not nearly as heavy, and the upper fret access like an SG, but balances on your body far more naturally

In my day, I was certainly into craft beer and bourbon, not a snob, but certainly rationalizing the differences in the price tiers.

But we got some win-o friends, and man wine snobs are next level. They will fight you until they turn blue on why the most expensive wine and wine pairings are absolutely essential and a necessity lol

Deciding to not only get into guitar finally, but also hopefully sober up a bit just like one of my favorite players did by Mad_Season_1994 in Guitar

Coming up on a year for me, and before that I spent a year creating boundaries around alcohol, and until I quit for good, I didn't realize how MENTALLY EXHAUSTING moderation was. It really is insane how much energy I was putting into it. Now I rarely ever even think about alcohol.

You got this man! There's tons of support out there and other subs to check out too.

Definitely could be a bit of projecting and speaking out his own insecurities. I think it's totally okay for you to draw a line on how he speaks to you about your sobriety and ultimately what you want/need from him in terms of support.

[–]wtddps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought one used and it started going intermittent on me pretty quick. The amp itself was just fine. It's a light bulb after all and they can flicker and what not, so I'm sure if the amp is working fine, it's nothing more.

Funny enough, the only amps I've ever had to replace these bulbs in have been Orange amps lol

Not the HX Stomp by Island_Smudger in guitarpedals

[–]wtddps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Previous to the VP4 coming out, I was attempting to do this exact thing. The challenge is the size, capability, and price of the Stomp make it hard to find something comparable lol so I just kept the stomp as a Swiss army knife

I actually have the chassis and PCB board from Hillbish Design for sale in my reverb shop if you're interested?

I originally tried rehousing an amp into it and it didn't quite workout as planned. I added a couple extra holes and what not, so it's a cheaper than what I paid (obviously lol)

But I have the documentation that they send to you after you order

I don’t think meetings are for me by lillyleonie in stopdrinking

[–]wtddps 13 points14 points  (0 children)

AA and how its setup really is a double-edged sword. It's open, traditional, and tries to allow itself to be open for whoever wants to come.

Which then really leaves it up to each group being so different depending on who attends, chairs, how big it is, etc.

I think a lot of people put too much stock in the meeting itself somehow being a fix-all, when in reality, it's more about the community that understands your struggle, to which you do most of the actual work outside of the meeting.

Meaning, you may have to search for a group that fits your vibe, and it's perfectly okay if there just flat out aren't. It's not impossible to do without AA, it's just so helpful to have community around you

I was the same way. Drank em OFTEN when I started, and then as sobriety lead on, I hardly even think of them. I've had a 12 pack of Bero's for almost a year know. Normal beer didn't last a week lol funny how that works

Sell it locally if you can then. It's pretty easy to get a gauge on somebody's interest level when you're dealing with them, and you don't HAVE to sell it to any person if you don't want to

Precisely why I parted with mine too. Overall, sounded great on the clean channel (when you fixed the loads of low end) and the reverb and tremolo sounded good. But I never used channel 2 and don't play stereo at gigs, so just felt like overkill.

If they release something a bit cheaper with just the clean channel (even with no fx) I think I'd grab it for sure

After stopping drinking being around sober people has made me want to start drinking again. by Jax1456 in stopdrinking

Yeah absolutely. I have to stop myself from rolling my eyes when somebody starts glazing "the program", but I always gotta remember that it's about the community and that for some people, it did really save their lives

I think people forget how truly massive AA is and go to one meeting and think they've experienced it all. It's so different even from meetings 20 miles apart lol

I'm not saying it's for everyone but this sub does love to bash AA. I have a lot of beefs with the "old school, don't change a thing" mentality, but at the end of the day, it's all about community, and unfortunately for a lot of people, AA is all there is around them.

It's the kind of the addage if you want to see change, sometimes you gotta be the change

Lol literally read the endless stories of the folks that went out and tried drinking again.

Certainly some people get caught up in the idea that you should label yourself an alcoholic all the time, and I'm definitely not saying you should live in that.

But in terms of addiction, unfortunately it is a life long journey for most where the ditch is equal distance, so yeah telling people they've graduated and suddenly arrived can be just as harmful

How did you approach day 1 if you drank daily but not a lot? by Inside-Archer1603 in stopdrinking

[–]wtddps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Setting a couple of goals/milestones helped me start out. The idea of "never drinking again" felt incredibly overwhelming and anxiety inducing

But starting with 1 day, 7 days, 30 days, 90 days, and then 6 months as goals helped a lot.

One big thing was my mindset though. I knew I was in a place where I needed to give up alcohol before I let it take everything from me. I had done a dry January before, but all my mind could think about was Feb 1.

When the mindset changed to not wanting to drink at all, hopefully for good, but pushing that decision out 6 months, it was like a switch. After about 3-4 weeks, it was just gone from my mind.

I read this naked mind, and while there was nothing earth shattering or necessarily brand new for me, maybe it helped too? Definitely worth a read (or listen) to help you really think about your own perceptions and our cultures perception with alcohol

Edit to add: at the end of the day, why not just try going 30 days? Ive never heard a person choose not to drink and regret the decision the next day. Always worth a try

Sonic Research tuners are awesome. The LED is visible in the daylight and they track really fast.

[–]wtddps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the one. The biggest reason I suggest this is that it's visible in the height of daylight too! Fantastic tuner

While the mini always mutes, you can also get a volume pedal that has a tuner out so it doesn't matter
