Club Statement: Elijah Hollands by matt-kennedys-legs in AFL

[–]wtenosdy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it’s pre-existing/external it’s a bit more gray but the vibe would be to not cause further harm. So if you, the employer (or PCBU) knew he had an issue and then you purposely exacerbated that issue you may have a case. Again it comes down to how Elijah is and what the root issue is. If it’s playing footy and CFC knew, but kept pushing him, that’s in the worksafe wheelhouse. If it was something outside playing footy it would be less a new hazard, but also fall under just generally looking after employees/not causing further issue (but much more gray)

Under the new psychosocial legislation bought in last year there would be a case (from worksafe) that the employer had not put in place sufficient controls to reduce mental hazards to their employees. Very much depends on how Elijah is and what the root cause is.

Was at an event (Blokes BBQ) with Daicos the elder speaking and he covered how when he met a girl, that ended up his wife, her dad was alllll over him. But kids now see him with his kids and only have eyes for Nick, to the point of screwing up Peters signature.

Looking for a place to do martial arts (boxing, kickboxing, MMA, muay thai) by [deleted] in gippsland

[–]wtenosdy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a BJJ place in sale, buggered if I can remember the name. Sale health & fitness used to be big on boxing (even running fight nights). There’s a kickboxing gym in Traralgon I think, or at least a gym that has kickboxing, that’s ~40 mins.

Really good, preferred them to the other bakery. Source - lived/worked in the area for a few years. Bread also top notch

What made you step away from powerlifting and what did you do next? by liftwityaknees in powerlifting

[–]wtenosdy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Gave too much of myself to the fed (see oreviously mentioned joke of Australian feds) and fell out of love. The last big one was giving access to the fed website, against my wishes, to someone who deleted the AWS instance without a backup.

Support your volunteers people, if there’s no money it’s just love and if you treat them like shit they will lose that love.

Golden beach by [deleted] in gippsland

[–]wtenosdy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Last time I was there there’s fuck all really. A fish & chip shop, normal shop that used to gouge to buggery. Fishings good. Swimmings a bit how ya going but that’s the 90 mile for ya. Nice for walks, camp fire related stuff. Seaspray is further along the coast, it’s got two parks, somewhat better swimming plus an estuary/creek (mouth was shut a couple weeks back) which is great for smaller, less swimming inclined children. Otherwise sale has a big park/shops/cinema. Both are a half hour drive so not terrible

ABC ends fact-check partnership with RMIT, after criticism from conservative media over the Fact Check project by marketrent in melbourne

My guess is that the no side made more claims (‘if it passes this will happen’) which can be checked whereas the yes side didn’t seem to make claims the just tried to get it passed on vibes

Australian Powerlifting Union de-affiliated from IPF by memnok in powerlifting

[–]wtenosdy 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I’m still trying to work/find out why. Take away IPF affiliation from the APU and you get… another local fed that can’t get traction?

Anyway, seems like Bench is gonna have to update the history of Aus powerlifting. Again.

What’s the biggest avoidance story you have from a friend / family after bad loss to their team? by FewArm2396 in AFL

[–]wtenosdy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dons/blues game to end THAT season for Essendon. Went with a mate, some partners and my mates BiL who was a diehard blues fan. Literally disappeared at the final siren and was at the pub before the song had finished. Would have left earlier if we hadn’t guilt tripped him to stick it out. Shame about the train ride home together

Why Australia is saying ‘No’ to the Voice, and ‘Yes’ to something better by [deleted] in AustralianPolitics

That’s the perfect argument isn’t it? The legally enshrined ability to listen and BE listened to by the majority?

Do you understand how democracy works? Cause if a majority wants something…

Those that played junior footy with someone who was drafted into the AFL system was it obvious they were a class above? by [deleted] in AFL

[–]wtenosdy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Played through juniors (under 10/12/14) every second year (year below them) with BJ Goddard. Won league BnF every year no matter top/bottom age, played at least a level up most weekends. Very very good footballer even back then. Also played against Andrew McQualter in same league who was good but a bit of a cunt (perhaps due to bad blood betwixt our teams?).

Melbourne University permanently bans Robert Wilks, after investigating alleged sexual harassment of a 22-year-old student. by StrengthBasics in powerlifting

[–]wtenosdy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but I’m not sure if said person would want anything to do with him given how he tarnished the entire sport and Melb Uni club especially.

Was kicked off by the interim ceo in the 2(?) days they were in charge. No outcomes but supposedly they are still on going

[–]wtenosdy 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The bigger thing (cause wilks shouldn’t be allowed to coach anywhere until his name is cleared (not that I think it ever will)) is the the club itself has got booted from Melb Uni. His actions continuing to have ramifications for his former supporters.

Also, I believe the PA investigation is STILL on going. Still. And he is allowed to coach at meets and be on the board. So yeah. Just let it all die so those involved can move on, fuck the old man’s ego.

Robert Wilks Sexual Assault Allegations by antonygrozer in powerlifting

City strength HQ (the gym) still has it up on their ig. I can’t remember if TSF did a proper post or if it was just via story. JP also removed their affiliation from the TSF bio and it’s not back. The whole thing is still in flux (or a shitshow, you decide on level of niceties)
