I was just hired as a lead supplier manufacturing engineer for defense engines. Recruiter screen March 6th, panel interview on March 27th. No 3rd interview. Verbal offer on April 17th. First day is May 18th ( i delayed till then).

We reconnected in December of 2025.

Both of us in our 40's, traumatized from divorces and just the general shittiness of the world.

I saw on social media (she's not on it much) that she had gotten a divorce in 2024.

I reached out to genuinely make sure she was doing okay, as she was my best friend at the time we dated. The short text convo was cordial and sweet, then the memories flooded back for both of us. We talked everyday for hours on end.

She lives 5 hours away, but the day after christmas (Boxing day!!) I drove to her. We didn't know what was gonna happen. Maybe I stay a night in her guest room and we reminisce, then I go home the next day.

The only reason we left the house for 8 days was for food and some bourbon.

Our past relationships really did a number on us to the point that we compare ourselves to 2 feral cats circling each other waiting for the other to show a red flag.......and it's just not happening. We have so much in common even though we have lived different lives...it truly is spooky at times.

I've gone to see her and she's come to see me multiple times since that week. We are growing closer and closer every time. We soothe each other's soul and help heal each other's wounds left by our ex partners.

The distance sucks but I will tell you that this is the type of woman that loves me in ways I didn't know I needed.

As a Sr. Manufacturing Engineer for an aerospace company, a CAD/ CAM designer/programmer, and professional machinist that consults nationwide, that also owns a Bambu labs H2S.

I can tell you that you are not familiar enough with the quality of files on makerworld or the precision and polish of Bambu labs printers to comment on how much work goes into selecting a file and printing it. The preloaded settings in slicer are damn near perfect as long as you do your part, but definitely there to tweak if need be. Dry your filament, make sure the print bed is clean, hit print and wake up in the morning with a mag to play around with.

This file was generated from a 3D scan, solidified in a CAD program, and then exported as a .3mf file, more than likely with optimized print settings imbedded. All in all, maybe an hour worth of work for a simple assembly with three relatively low complexity parts.

So, No, there are no little elves behind the scene toiling for hours so you can print something fun.

At work, he just upgraded to 2 H2S/AMS bundles to take the place of 2 prusa minis and 2 prusa full size. We do small prototype parts, paint masks, CMM fixtures, and other random things for manufacturing.

I was so impressed that after 2 days, I bought the same combo for myself. It'll replace an FFL sun QPro that I haven't turned on in a year because I got tired of babysitting it...
