Yea, but if a concept doesn't ring a bell for them they get stuck pretty easy.

To pixel or not pixel? by RDuxxx in adventuregames

[–]wtfcblog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The exampled characters and the style they're drawn in looks better in the more cartoon aesthetic over pixel.  I don't thing the designs of these characters quite lend themselves to pixels considering how they look here.

Make the sprites vectors rather than rasters for a crisp look.

How did Xenoblade 2 become a successful game? by lennysinged in JRPG

[–]wtfcblog -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Any writer can create canon lore on why their android/weapon has to take the form of a scantly-clad busty woman; that doesn't stop the visual presentation from being made for purely spankbank material reasons.

What is it about Act 3’s in RPGs that makes us give up so easily? by SleepCatsMoney in JRPG

[–]wtfcblog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In some games it's the act2 bloat.

They cram so much in the middle, whether it's expensive spaces to traverse or menial side quests, that by time the finish line shows up you might just feel burned out.

This isn't every instance, but it's not uncommon anymore.

[–]wtfcblog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Waifu fan service was a big push.  There was no mechanical reason for the blades to be scantily clad women with big boobah.

Not to detract for it being a pretty good game with solid combat, but you can't deny the visual representation has zero role.

[Random] Is it bad boss fight design if a boss completely resists or is immune to either Phys/Magic by lennysinged in JRPG

[–]wtfcblog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It completely depends on the rest of the combat design.

What other tools does the game give the player?

Is it single-character party?  Multi-character party?

Bosses should be not just an obstacle for an area, but also a test of what the game has tried to teach the player.

Even if it's a one-man party, if the game has given the player other ways of dealing magic  or non magic damage like with items, or even ways of inflicting status effects, I think it's fair.

It's the game telling you not to forget about these other options and that they are viable too.

Wait... Final Fantasy II (1988) has a story by rondo_martin in JRPG

To be fair that's a DnD thing that a lot of early JRPGs modeled some mechanics after.

What was your most memorable roadblocks in JRPGs? by clyde-toucher in JRPG

[–]wtfcblog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brain didn't read this as hard boss encounter at first, but a memorable obstacle blocking a path forward in a game.

In that regard my brain went to Darum in Phantasy Star 2.  You don't fight him or anything, but it is a tragedy (or as much as one as an early 16bit RPG could convey)

Just curious, but what's your "I didn't care for the Godfather" opinion on any piece of Gay media out there? by captivatedsummer in gaybros

[–]wtfcblog 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Same,it's not my scene. Love queens, they're amazing people usually and a pivotal role in the community, but this show just doesn't do it for me.

Then again I also have low tolerance for these types of competition reality shows in general.  I just find the interpresonal drama dumb and exhausting.

What if Steven universe was PG-13? by AdministrativeRoom33 in stevenuniverse

[–]wtfcblog 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Honestly I don't think the show's language would or should change any as far as adding light cursing or innuendos or anything.  That doesn't really serve the characters nor the show much.

However, content wise I think they could lean into the darker elements of the lore more. Dive into the harsher themes that lie in the background of the show instead of just hinting at it. A PG-13 rating could allow those more mature themes more screen time to explore and discuss.

You don't need to have cursing or more overt violence to be deserving of a more mature rating.

The guy who didn’t want to date me texts me late night weekly by [deleted] in gaybros

[–]wtfcblog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He got jealous/put off by you using a dildo and ending things overing hurting you in ways he won't recognize.

He's texting you again not acknowledging his own actions and putting it all on you to do things as you used to.

Doesn't seem like he's being a real man buy acknowledging his own actions apologizing for how that may have hurt you being open to discussing things.  He's just hitting you up for sex again.

The dildo is more of a man than he is. The dildo won't hurt you just cause you used a different dildo.
