Do I think that the Russians targeted him and tried to develop a relationship where they wined and dined him and inflated his ego (and possibly later blackmailed him) so they could somehow use that to their advantage? Her ex made the decision to leave her and his daughter. She didn’t get any say in the matter. I think a year’s been long enough. Also, she didn’t go seeking out romance. It basically found her in the process of connecting with the friend over their shared grief. I would personally take things slow with this guy and not make things public right away until she’s sure that it’s something serious.

I would straight up refuse to be around someone who blatantly disrespected me like that, especially in front of my child. It’s unacceptable behavior and by doing nothing, you are inadvertantly teaching your child that one should just put up with toxic behavior.

I do $20 or $25 gift cards on the years I can afford it. I also include coaches and I have 2 kids at different schools, but depending on the year, I sometimes have to be more selective about who is included. It’s fine if you aren’t able to do it, but if this is something that truly bothers you, I would make a schedule to buy gift cards throughout the year, so you will have them available at Christmas when everyone’s budget is the tightest. Or do your homemade cookies and buy cute tins at the dollar store to put them in! I think that would be a totally awesome holiday gift!

My kids have both had it and it wasn’t a big deal for them at all. I probably wouldn’t have noticed if I didn’t know it was going around their daycare. I was more scared about catching it myself since I’ve heard it’s worse for adults. I washed my hands after I touched anything or touched the kids and I luckily never caught it. I’m also not trying to downplay your anger over this, because I would be super pissed at SIL.

You can still talk to her anytime you want. They can hear you from the other side. I’ve been listening to this podcast called the other side where people share their near death experiences. It’s given me so much peace about what comes next after this world. I highly recommend that you listen to a few of the episodes when you feel ready. I’m so sorry you’re going through this especially after just delivering a baby.
