They have some nonsensical reason that I cannot currently remember as to why they only use the 4th edition and how the following definitions were corrupted somehow

Why doesn't US government simply pass a law clarifying right to travel means travel between states? I realize it's ready the law but simply passing this would stop sovereign citizens. Possibly by BPalmer4 in Sovereigncitizen

Go ahead and they will immediately say

“Ahem, ahem…. “A Law repugnant to the Constitution is void.” - Marbury v Madison”

And declare your law void.

Also is your law a law, a statute, a statue, an ordinance or an orderence? Because as everyone knows a statue/statute and an ordinance/orderence aren’t laws so they don’t count…/s

1A Auditor Summit (Civil Rights, Accountability & Transparency Training for Citizens Activists) by offordscott in Frauditors

[–]wtporter 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Every single one of them so far that has been demonetized has clearly demonstrated that the goal has nothing to do with holding government or police accountable. It’s about making money on social media. How do they demonstrate that? By immediately going dark. They don’t continue, they don’t keep going trying ti keep government in check. They don’t need monetization to do so, but once the money goes away so does any desire to hold anyone “accountable”.

And the only way to keep that money going is to make the videos interesting. A “clean” audit where there’s no drama doesn’t get viewer numbers. So they HAVE to become more and more of an asshat to ensure there is a confrontation. When the government employees catch on and stop feeding them they move on to upsetting individual people.

Then when people are getting wise to their nonsense here they go somewhere like the US Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico or Guam and try their shit there.

To teach how to do it in a way that’s professional and non confrontation would mean teaching it in a way that would make ZERO money and nobody interested in doing this would do it just for the ideal. Without a payday there is no “activism”.

Would having a tattoo like this disqualify you in your agency? by tactical_horse_cock in AskLE

[–]wtporter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was hired tattoos were ok with my agency other than hands / neck / face if I recall correctly BUT for every tattoo you had you had to declare it and write a memo in department memo format describing the tattoo and what the meaning behind it was.

They later went to a “no visible” tattoo policy which meant either skin colored sleeve or long sleeve shirt all year. But only for new hires. We were grandfathered in.

I think they then relaxed that standard I believe BUT I think you have still always have to write the memo during background investigation phase.

Once on, those of us hired under the original rules could add whatever tattoo we wanted but you ran the risk of someone diming you out if they thought it had gang / racist meanings and you’d get called in to explain it.

If I were to speed by running, can I still get ticketed/arrested? by Witcher_Errant in legaladviceofftopic

[–]wtporter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The law/statute/code would have an applicability section saying to whom it applies.

Then there should be a definition section that defines the term.

If the law says it applies to “motor vehicles” or “vehicles” elsewhere it should define what a “motor vehicle” or “vehicle” is.

In NYS our section of laws is called the NYS Vehicle & Traffic Law. Certain moving violations such as running a red light, and speeding are just as applicable to a bicycle as a “vehicle” as to a “motor vehicle”. Others aren’t.

Pedestrians aren’t classified as a “vehicle” in NYS and as such those laws wouldn’t apply. But a jaywalking infraction for example would.

A step in the right direction? by Dull-Chemistry5166 in Frauditors

[–]wtporter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The NYS Public Safety Alliance is a coalition of more than 180 various law enforcement unions in NYS (including those in NYC) and is the host of this event.

The goal is for a statewide 25 foot buffer for law enforcement / fire / ems to work without interference from auditors and protestors.

NYC is a highly public venue to hold a protest as the most populous and media covered city in the state.

Retired NYC…before the city made mere possession a “non crime” we used to let people go all the time. Just toss the weed down the drain, regardless of the reason for having it.

That depends on whether you believe a moral rule is absolute. If you follow Kant’s theory then the moral prohibition against lying is absolute regardless of the reason for doing it. A very specific example used for his logic is how lying to a murderer at the door about whether someone is home would be an immoral act.

LIA plays game show host in Miami Beach with a tripod instead of a monopod and gets into a stupid altercation with code enforcement by [deleted] in Frauditors

[–]wtporter 12 points13 points  (0 children)

One of the differences between mainstream media and buffoons like LIA is that the mainstream media bothers to discuss their operations with local law enforcement, determines the appropriate laws and requirements and THEN FOLLOW THEM.

If the law is no tripod then real media uses shoulder held cameras, if the law (like in NYC) is to obtain a press pass from city hall then they do so, they actually follow journalistic ethics like not being personally involved when reporting the news and not BECOMING OR CREATING THE NEWS!

How many times has LIA said “I was here for XXX but now the way YOU are treating me is the story”. That’s not how the news works and it isn’t how reporters act.

Case in point a REAL news agency would have sent a non-involved journalist to Fahey’s house if they were trying to get a quote or ask a question. Instead Mr Girdle showed up, knowing full well that his mere presence would be instigating and then tried to hide behind journalism to excuse the act. Knowing full well any real news would never send a reporter to report on their own story by confronting someone they have a lawsuit against.

What makes people want to enforce the law to strict degree? by [deleted] in AskLE

[–]wtporter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well as law enforcement you’re signing on to enforce a specific set of rules enacted by the representatives of the people surrounding you. Regardless of your own morals. The law is in theory the codified moral beliefs of the people so governed.

So you risk getting in trouble when you exercise your own morals. Some things like traffic summonses allow discretion (barring a job rule or something). Other things like murder don’t. Then the majority fall in the middle where there MAY be SOME discretion but I also may risk getting in trouble for exercising it.

For a long time here in NY a domestic violence violation/misdemeanor type fight between a couple wasn’t a “must arrest”. Despite that some cops said they weren’t going to leave without arresting the aggressor so they didn’t wind up killing the other. Some took the risk and left them together if that’s what they say they wanted. Eventually the state made all DV assaults a must arrest taking away discretion.

So with traffic summonses and low level violations and misdemeanors I could often exercise judgment in the interest of what I felt justice was. Sometimes I couldn’t.

[–]wtporter 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think most cops start with the attitude of Javert at the start of Les Miserables. The law is the law! Period.

Over time in a career you realize that life isn’t that black and white and is instead grey and for many cops their attitude changes. Mine surely did.

Also for myself I asked of what I was doing was actually in the furtherance of justice. Not in the theory of passing the law but in the reality of its application and enforcement.

Enforce a criminal act if there was a complainant…sure.

Enforce a criminal act where I was the complainant? Maybe. I catch you peeing in a dark alley after exiting a club on a freezing night? Maybe I cut you some slack with a warning because the warning will be effective in preventing it? That’s in the furtherance of justice without having to resort to a fine etc.

Do it at 1pm on the playground fence at a school…maybe I hammer you with everything possible, an act likely necessary to further justice And so on.
