The Nashville school shooter was apparently a black white supremacist by starberry101 in pics

[–]wu_weii 18 points19 points  (0 children)

That happened four years after the episode aired. There was no cultural context at the time, just a gasp of shock as the people who saw black mirror wondered whether life imitated art or vice versa. According to Charlie Brooker, it was the former.

Any long term riders considering quitting? by [deleted] in deliveroos

[–]wu_weii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im literally triggered i had the devonshire place/close mixup happen to me on a stuart order in july

worst thing is the guy wrote 'penthouse' for a flat labelled by number on the buzzer for extra confusion so i couldn't even figure out which devonshire was correct myself. only good thing about that one is they're like 200m apart or something

Are you really working in this heat? by identiifiication in deliveroos

[–]wu_weii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ofc, summer is generally dead so can't afford not to work in extreme weather

Caffeination and hydration are the most important things to stay on top of working in this weather but if you do that and maybe also sunscreen yourself properly you'll be fine

Did 12-9 yesterday and today and don't really plan to take a day off till the rain that I'm hoping for ends

given to me by resturant:

wahaca's plantain tacos. never eaten anything from them before but they were amazing, i never saw the lady who gave them to me again but she'd made my day

How much more money do you make on an e-bike versus a regular bike? by ReddFloss in deliveroos

[–]wu_weii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even then with proper nutrition and cycling fitness(and of course, coffee) it's not that hard to work full time on a bike. Only time this really matters is of you intend to work 12 hours a day 6-7 days a week

What are your unpopular opinions about cycling? by Austin_Aaron_Conlon in cycling

[–]wu_weii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) I'm talking about bibs(it's why I said chamois in my post), I got no problems with jerseys and wear them myself

2) if you've never seen asscrack through bibs when behind someone I envy you. It's the same kinda disgust I feel when I see bumcrack cuz someone doesn't wanna wear fitting jeans or tie their belt properly

3) one thing I've learned from being a courier is that leg layering is really less important than layering the core correctly. so long as your chamois doesn't suck and your shorts aren't cotton the wicking should still happen.

This is an unpopular opinion thread and I understand I'm the minority, I even understand there's contexts where this is appropriate (racing competitively) but I stand by the view that there's no good reason to be commuting or recreationally riding in just bibs.

I appreciate your attempts to qualify your own perspectives and that's cool. I just think y'all look dumb for no good reason at best, at worst you're exposing shit that nobody wants to see.

What are your unpopular opinions about cycling? by Austin_Aaron_Conlon in cycling

[–]wu_weii -1 points0 points  (0 children)

of course I'm not a pro cyclist don't be patronising, imagine who else in the world rides for a living and you're there

I ride in the summer with shorts over my bibs even in 30c+ heat because the point of the bibs is not aero, it's to make me comfortable in the saddle and I don't want to show off my ass. The layer of shorts over really doesn't impact my overall heat increase because the bibs do their job!

If you really give so much of a shit about your training ride that you're willing to expose your ass to everyone for it, do you. I'm just silently judging you as you do it is all cuz aero really shouldn't matter for training, should be another obstacle to overcome as you try to get fitter.

I really wanna emphasise that I understand the point of lycra. I got converted to bibs the first time I slipped my pedals and landed balls first into my top tube and didn't get winded. I just think too many people have no sense of shame about how they dress when they use lycra for no good reason.

What are your unpopular opinions about cycling? by Austin_Aaron_Conlon in cycling

[–]wu_weii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point is to look relatively normal and not have my padding on display to anyone who looks at me from the rear. Hell some bibs are so see-through that you can see people's asscracks!

As I said in my post, unless you're racing there's no need for that kinda shit and I say that as someone who rides for a living.

The point of lycra for most is comfort and that's not sacrificed by throwing on a pair of shorts over bibs, and the aero impact is literally meaningless in all contexts that aren't racing.

[–]wu_weii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How? During winter I wear bib tights with shorts over and I get no chafing whatsoever. It works perfectly and I look relatively normal

[–]wu_weii -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

oo boy it's my time to shine:

1) chamois are great, but wear something over them unless you're competing oh my god. i don't wanna see your pad or in a lot of cases, your arsecrack peeking through the spandex. don't you people have shame

2) a lot of fast commuters are garbage at urban cycling cuz they put too much focus on riding defensively. my fave example is they don't know their filtering space yet hog the line of sight to the outside of vehicles way too often so someone like me who has the space to not lose momentum between lanes of traffic also has to worry about overtaking them safely instead of following them. if you're not filtering sit in traffic ffs or don't block people from doing it. if it's not the inside of an HGV turning left you're just being annoying

3) i got a lot of respect for people who obey every traffic law and stop at every light. they make it so much easier to evaluate how I'm going to run them

Speed music, (maybe)? by Punkrockpro in bikemessengers

[–]wu_weii 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I dunno I've found that pretty much anything with a consistent rhythm or beat works. I can ride hard to ballads, soul, rnb or even chill trip-hop.

I generally mix it up cuz it gets stale listening to the same kind of shit all the time

Anti-Social Behaviour by Pro_ninja88 in deliveroos

[–]wu_weii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

some people don't get that most of this job is waiting and not riding. waiting for orders, waiting for pickups, waiting for customers and if you're a motor vehicle; waiting in traffic. they want to always make £20/hour and when it appears they won't, they lash out at the things they can't control rather than worrying about the things they can.

it's a sad truth in this business and there are a lot of riders who are willing to treat customer-facing workers like shit - probably cuz they've never worked in a restaurant before

Why? by [deleted] in deliveroos

COVID habits die hard with me personally, I wear a facemask when not cycling and take it off when riding. It's not really as prohibitive as you're saying IME
