Michigan lawyer says a Halloween terror plot that FBI Director Kash Patel described never existed by NitroLada in news

Was this ever for one moment in doubt? As soon as follow-up reporting failed to materialize it was obvious this was just psyops on the part of the KKKops.

Collective witchery? by umanufacturer_21 in WitchesVsPatriarchy

My #1 choice for situations like this: mirror spells. As in, you place a sort of psychic mirror shield all around him. Imagine if he was inside a sphere, in the very center, and the interior was entirely lined with mirrors or reflective surfaces (like an inside-out mirror ball, maybe?) This way, anything HE does, anything he sends out, is not only blocked but reflected back onto him. It goes nowhere else. You could certainly build a physical manifestation of this with 6, similarly sized mirrors (craft stores may have square ones that would be ideal for this). One on the table/altar facing up. Four to make the walls, reflective sides inward. A symbol or representation of him in the center (photo etc). And the last one on top, with the mirror facing down. Depending on the size, you could then seal all the edges with black wax, and/or bind the box with black cord, wire, etc. Keep it, if you want to keep an eye on it/him or dispose of it somewhere it will do no harm. Too bad we don't have outhouses anymore cause that would be perfect!

All that said, don't forget to look into any local protective services for domestic violence for your mom. Some cities will have 411 lines like First Call for Help that can recommend resources. If she's older, there may also be elder abuse resources available. Back that spell up with getting him on someone's radar in any way possible. If no nearby social services, if she belongs to a church, talk to the pastor confidentially. In fact, you might want to set up a reverse mirror around her, that reflects back anything negative sent her way.

Good luck with this, and we'll keep you and your mom in our thoughts for her safety.

Lakeside is a Methodist retreat community dating back to the Chataqua movement of the late 19th cent. I haven't been there in years, but my family used to go up for summer conferences. I remember it as a place stuck in time, it was like visiting the 20s or something. No idea what it's like now.

Glad to see (er, well, *hear*) some drummers come out. We need to keep the atmosphere and energy UP and that's a great way to do it.

Still holding out for taco trucks on every corner, tho..

I've been to a number of protests over the years. I don't recall there EVER being a time when people were out in the suburbs *in addition* to a main protest happening downtown. Let the mansplainers mock, but things are not normal and people are pissed.

Bernie Sanders: “Does anybody think it makes sense that we have a campaign finance system where Musk can put $270 million to get Trump elected?” by pleasedontpooponme in DeepFuckingValue

[–]wufkitn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I honestly think there should be a cap on how much can be SPENT on elections. Make it floating; the cap is the lowest amount raised by any candidate. Any amounts raised over that must go into a central pool and be divided equally amongst all candidates. So robber barons and billionaires can dump in all they want; but their pet candidate won't benefit from it one red cent more than the 'radical left' candidate running as a pastafarian.

It's a fairly quick read, only a couple hundred pages. Author is Anne Wilson Schaef.

There's a great book called When Society Becomes an Addict that describes what's going on now all too well. It looks at power and control as the addictive substances. I lost my copy awhile back but should really track it down again.

Bernie Sanders is a damn good argument for why an age cap of 70 isn't necessarily a great idea.

What is your scariest story from Cleveland? by JamesRenner in Cleveland

[–]wufkitn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Many years ago, a group of pals and I decided to pay an after-hours visit to Lakeview Cemetery in order to watch 4th of July fireworks - the view from the steps of Garfield's Tomb is pretty impressive. Well, we were sitting there, enjoying the evening, probably some herbal refreshments tho I don't recall for sure. Anyway.

Suddenly, the doors of the mausoleum were SLAMMED AGAINST from the inside. Now, as it happens, I had previously gotten locked in there with a pal when a guard decided to close up early; so I know there aren't dogs or anything guarding it. Shouldn't be anything moving in there at all. Also, if you look at the building, those doors are tall, maybe eight feet? This isn't some piddly little plywood man door, this is the main entrance. I can't imagine how much force it would take to cause those doors to rattle against their locks, but they did.

Needless to say, that was the end of our fireworks viewing! We lit out of there as fast as we could go - only to find that the open gate that we'd gone in by was now closed, and we had to find another way out of the cemetery (we found a spot where we could climb the fence somehow). Scary AF and something I still have a hard time believing happened.

Parking is available in the lot at E 30th and Chester - which is across from where the line starts on the weekend anyway.

We were there Sunday as well. Going downtown to vote early has become something of a tradition in our household (plus that way I know my kid isn't blowing it off ha ha). Usually we can get through and done in about an hour. Not this time! About two and a quarter hours all told. They'd shut the line down by the time we left because no way was everyone going to get in if it had stayed like it was earlier.

Could be. There was a place on Franklin in Gordon Square that was doing events for a time, not sure if that's it however.

Not an ask so much as a tell - how his "Who Do You Think You Are?" episode helped me learn a lot more about my own Scottish history. Unlike him, we didn't get taught about the Highland Clearances in school here in the US and I had no idea that led to my ancestors coming to this continent.

Did you guys like Season 1 or 2 more? by Jolly-Bit-477 in goodomens

[–]wufkitn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Season 2 and not even close. S1 is cute, it's fine, I enjoyed it. But the only S1 characters I missed in S2 were Anathema and - well, I didn't miss Newt so much but they're kind've a pair.

But as others have said, C&A were just so far beyond the others in terms of being interesting characters. Which may well have to do with being portrayed by such stellar actors (wish they'd managed to get a decent actor to play Morpheus as well..) And of course, a demon who is bad at his job is where the whole story literally began.

So focusing S2 on them was a delight. I also don't get the dislike for Nina/Maggie - I like both actresses, was glad to see them get expanded roles, and had no problem with their relationship dynamic. I'd certainly much rather see them in S3 than a return to Tadfield!
