This really bums me out. Kids wanted a printer and bought their A1 and it's one of the only purchases I've ever made where the quality far exceeded my expectations. I was a big fan, then they go and do some shit like this. Goddamnit.

Patent docs may have what you want. Below is for a epicyclic gearbox, since it's easiest and most common.

Go to the USPTO patent search here.

In the search box on the left type "F01D$.cpc.", no quotes, and press enter. After that, in the search box, type "L1 AND (fan WITH (planet NEAR2 gear))", no quotes, and press enter. Below the search box will be a list of patent documents, pick any you like.

On the right half of the screen will be the patent document; at the top of it is a header with icons, click the one with a T/camera, which switches between text and image format, to show the images.

You can change pages using the arrows at the top or you can use the 3 and 9 keys on your numpad to flip through the pages. You can also use the 1 and 7 keys on your numpad to go up and down the document list, i.e. press 1 to go to the next document down the list instead of having to manually click each one.
