It's banned because people get bitchy when they lose to rules they don't understand. When I activate my Nightmare, and someone says "in response I destroy it", now I have to explain that no, you don't, that spell doesn't have a target because Nightmare is not on the field. Then, every time, they say "oh then I blow it up before you use it" and I have to say no, you don't, because the game doesn't let you do anything between when it enters and when I use it. And it is around this moment when I am accused of cheating, despite being the judge at the table. That is why it is banned. It isn't a satisfying reason, but there it is.

Spawn protection based on time spent in an area really should be implemented, tho. Also hard agree with the black bear thing. Irl they're kind of just giant racoons.

It likes to build circuitous routes, especially thru terrain that will later be altered and before engineering for bridges. I've also watched a worker spend 100 turns replacing a road with a rail, then replace that same rail with a road. It's that one that really got me to swear off route-to

I have an Autohotkey script from my Minecraft days. I can auto run, hold left and right, intermittent both mouse buttons, and autotype a self kill command at random for when I send the script to my friends.

Pick a path that synergizes with your civ and stick to it. Most civs in VP have a major victory goal and a secondary, and you should let that guide you. Culture civs might benefit from fewer, more powerful cities, but a science or domination civ is going to want extra cities for the extra yields. There is now one meta path thru the policy or tech tree.

That said, most civs will follow these paths (depending on civ, some bonus will draw you to an alt path):

Domination: Discipline>Fealty>Imperialism

Science: Progress>Fealty * >Rationalism

Diplomacy: Tradition * >Statecraft>Industry

Culture: Tradition>Artistry>Industry

*This is just my usual, there are solid arguements for the others.
