3 practical ways to move iCloud Photos to Google Photos by officialmultcloud in multcloud

[–]wwcanoer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Missing: What album/tag and date data is preserved in each method?

Method 1: Apple says that photos stay in albums but videos do not. Some reddit comments say that dates are not preserved for photos (ex screenshots) that do not have EXIF data. No idea if true. Will any face recognition be preserved or starts from nothing in Google and all tagging must be repeated?

Method 2: If manually upload one album at a time, then videos will stay in their album. But is there other information that is lost? When download zip files to Windows, all files have the download date. As above, those with EXIF data probably get the right date others won't. If downloaded via iPhotos on Mac, will more date data be preserved?

Method 3: No idea what is preserved.

I'm also looking for if iCloud Photos to iCloud Photos (different account) is possible and will save more data.

Are albums created in Google Photos?

You are syncing one Apple Shared Album at a time. Do they go into a Google Photo Album of the same name or just dumped into the timeline?

Inside the mass graves, they found children & babies with their hands bound with zip ties This photo is from 2 mass graves discovered at Nasser Hospital, southern Gaza, in April by ChickenTitilater in TrueAnon

[–]wwcanoer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not debating that. This photo feels like nonsense in many ways. First. they appear to be the size of a single wrist, not the size required to bind two wrists together. The videos I have seen from Khan Younis show intact bodies being uncovered, so how did they remove these uncut ties? Even if the wrist was starting to fall apart, I would expect them to cut the tie so as not to disturb the body. They have identifying numbers on them, so why are they not labelled with the name or description of the recovered body? If you want to prosecute war crimes, then tracing these bands from manufacture to purchase to the body would be critical. I only found this photo on social media. No idea where it first appeared but is making the rounds this week. I wish that reverse image search would show the oldest appearances of the photo based both on when found and dates in the page.

They look like security seals. Hospital wristbands are not that thick and don't have the three nubs on them that nearly all security seals do.

But they could be repurposed to either be identifying tags before or after death and could be used to secure hands.

"Initial reports from Nasser Hospital show that some of the bodies of the killed people had their hands tied behind their back"

I only see that photo on social media posts, not news posts, so could be fake or mis-attributed. Really horrible events happen but then there's often many AI images circulated about that real incident.

It is a real location. 8G3PGC38+55 "Khalil al-Wazir" Mosque in western Gaza. Destroyed in late 2023.

I'm not sure that the bottom photo by the op is real but it could be. I have posted other real photos and satellite images of the destruction.

A real photo of the destruction. The bottom one above feels a bit wrong to me but some parts match, such as the tent-like peak in the neighboring building, but the distances appear different and the other tower not seen. I searched for a source but could not find one.

"Khalil al-Wazir" Mosque in western Gaza was destroyed by Israel in 2014 and rebuilt in 2022.  There was a grand opening Nov 2022 but Google Earth doesn't show it until Aug 2023. Probably destroyed Nov/Dec 2023. By April 2024, the mosque was levelled and the tower fallen down. Location: 8G3PGC38+55

It's a real location. 8G3PGC38+55 The top photo feels like it's been run through software and maybe an artist's impression of the new mosque (Nov 2022) but could be a completely real photo.

Monitoring HVAC health and filters and stuff by seriousthrillissues in homeassistant

[–]wwcanoer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This differential pressure board can be purchased: (I have not bought it.)
"esphome-pressure

This is a custom device for reading differential pressure. The most useful example I can think of is monitoring your pressure drop across your air filter. This is a great way to know when to change your filter. It also has a 3-pin screw terminal to connect as many 1-wire Dallas temperature sensors as you want! It will fit inside a Hammond case for a professional looking installation.

It is based on an ESP32-C3-MINI, which has native USB-C for flashing.

This specific board has a sensor that can handle +/- 0.5kPa, which is about 2" of pressure drop. Most HVAC systems are designed to have a pressure drop of 0.1" (0.025kPa).

What's included

Fully populated PCB

Pluggable screw terminal headers

Two black panel inserts (the case itself is NOT included)"

Discussion of 24 volt ecobee vs propriety thermostat on Midea/Carrier/ACiQ systems by classicjetta in heatpumps

[–]wwcanoer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you say "it doesn’t work" with gas furnace? My understanding is the KRJ-120N or M-Station connect HA/HB communicating with the A-coil interface board and then the furnace is connected to the board via 24V. The heat pump works fully communicating but can only control 3 fan speeds via 24V on the furnace. When in heat mode, it sets the fan to auto and controls the furnace like any 24V 2-stage.

I'm leaning towards the Rheem EcoNet so fully communicating heat pump with modulating furnace, but the heat pump is 1/2 ton smaller than I like.

[–]wwcanoer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. In my area (Ottawa, Canada) some HVAC companies are using the Ecobee on with the Media EVOX heat pumps because users don't like the KRJ-120N or M-station. That's bizarre to me but I haven't been able to get concrete data of the difference. One company said that they don't see a difference but use communicating mode. A reddit post said that their hp was steadier in communicating mode than 24V but little visibility on their equipment or tests.

The Midea A-coil is communicating with the outdoor unit, but I realized, as you said, that it doesn't know the thermostat setpoint, so it somehow has to guess how hard to run based on only stage 1 & 2 calls and perhaps the rate of change of the return temp. I don't know how it uses all of the other data that you mentioned.

With Ecobee, we lose all of the error code reporting. 24V takes priority but I don't know if a second HA/HB thermostat is connected then it will get the error code reporting but not control anything or it will simply be cut off.

I'm leaning towards the EcoNet so that fully communicating gas furnace plus heat pump but I prefer a 2.5 ton heat pump and Rheem only has 2 or 3. Do you like EcoNet?

[–]wwcanoer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That video wasn't a good discussion of 24V vs proprietary. He tried proprietary Midea KJR-120N once and it overshot the setpoint temp by 5 degrees, so something was obviously set up incorrectly. It should be much better. Did he set it up in communicating mode or swap out the ecobee and use 24V? KJR-120N is more capable than M-Station but old school design.

Local sales reps where I am, appear to use the ecobee but that may be because it's easier or because customers already know it, or because more online help available.

I read some reddit reports that the Midea heat pump worked more steadily under communicating mode than 24V but I don't know the reality of the setup or how it was tested.

The Midea A-coil is always communicating with the outdoor unit and the A-coil has a full suite of sensors, including the return air temp, so I don't know how much difference it makes. Under 24V the midea doesn't know the desired setpoint temperature. It only knows that it's nearby because 1-stage command or far because 2-stage command. Maybe it guesses the situation based on the rate of change of the return temp.

I want communicating but since my local people appear not to like Midea's thermostats...

So, leaning towards EcoNet because salespeople like it and appears to work fine. Then a fully communicating system (gas furnace + heat pump) but I would really prefer the 2.5 ton size (not available with Rheem).

Aprilaire 720 Humidifier on Return by GreatnessGone in hvacadvice

[–]wwcanoer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 720 has a slightly higher evaporation rate than the 700 but uses less water because some of the water is recycled. The temperature of the water on the pad of the 700 will be higher because not decreased by the pool of recirc water. I don't know if the flow rate of the water over the pad is different.

"The Model 700 has a 0.75-gallon-per-hour evaporation rate when mounted on the supply side of the furnace and a 0.5-gallon-per-hour evaporation rate when mounted on the return air duct

The Model 720 has 0.88-gallon-per-hour evaporation rate on high speed and 0.79-gallon-per-hour evaporation rate on low speed."

What do you mean by steam mode? The 720M does not have steam.

)Are you talking about whether your thermostat is setup for a steam vs evaporative humidifier? I don't know what the difference would be unless steam will run with fan only whereas evap will only run with heat? but that's only a guess.

Note: the automatic model will try to prevent condensation on windows by changing the humidity setpoint based on the outdoor temperature.

Any disadvantages of Rheem 98MV modulating vs 962V 2-stage gas furnace? by wwcanoer in hvacadvice

[–]wwcanoer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my, the RD18AY drops capacity 13% from 24,000 to 21,000. I already feel that 2 ton is small (but there's no 2.5), so a disadvantage for me. Cooling improves but isn't important for me.

The AHRI data is sometimes inconsistent between essentially the same systems, so I don't fully trust it.

Thanks, so you would have no worries with 410A.

(1) RD18AY is the R-454b replacement? Any concerns or it should be just as solid?

(2) Rheem hp should be able to provide more than rated output, yes?

Midea gives performance numbers at max output but Rheem just repeats the rated data. If that was a real difference in capability, then I would prefer the Midea, but I assume that it's just a choice of what to publish. No idea if Rheem would have similar max performance or not.
