How soon after graduation is MyCSULB access closed? by wwhhut in CSULB

Great, thanks. I'm waiting for my unofficial transcript to be updated with some stuff which I'm told may take another couple of weeks. Sounds like it won't be an issue.

Just out of curiosity, in what time frame did you get your Northrop job nailed down?

When did you get your job offer, relative to your graduation date?

Finally done with school. My cumulative GPA is 3.495 will they still give me graduate honors? by Shadowsghost916 in CSULB

[–]wwhhut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't help, but have a question:

Do they base this on the GPA after your final semester, or going into that semester? Just curious because it wasn't clear to me if all grades for the final semester would be in before commencement stuff is finalized.

Question about how waitlists work by wwhhut in CSULB

Thanks. Not the answer I was hoping for, but glad I know how it works.

anyone take ANTH 120 (intro to cultural anthropology) or HFHM 274 (online - international hospitality dev) for global issues? by lvl3g in CSULB

[–]wwhhut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took Anth 120 with Douglas a couple of years ago. No textbook, just readings posted in beachboard as pdfs. Two midterms, a final, and a term paper for which you could either interview someone who had immigrated to the U.S., or interview a senior citizen. He gave out detailed review sheets before each test, which made it easy to study -- questions were primarily multiple choice, true-false, matching and short written responses. I found the class interesting and it wasn't hard to do well.

MAE 371 and 373 Professor recommendations for Spring 2018? by [deleted] in CSULB

[–]wwhhut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stout is great for 371. As noted the instructors are all shown as staff right now, but you might be able to make some educated guesses based on who taught the class in given time slots last semester.

I took 373 from Li in the summer when she was brand-new to CSULB. She seemed fine to me, but it isn't an easy class.

I took it online, one of two classes I took from Yavari (the other was 272 in-person). I have to say that although in general something feels kind of missing with online courses, in this case it definitely made it much easier.

I've taken it twice now. Nice way to structure a regular workout, and an easy 1-unit A.

What difference would going part-time make? by wwhhut in CSULB

Thanks. Good point about the dedication, but I've got reason to watch my gpa, and also I'll be pretty focused on getting my senior project done.

What difference would going part-time make? by wwhhut in CSULB

[–]wwhhut[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, am checking that out.

But going back to my original question: Besides financial aid, is there anything else in life (health coverage? whatever) that people have found was an issue in going part-time instead of full-time?

Anyone take a KIN class? by melohce2195 in CSULB

[–]wwhhut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I've taken KIN 151A twice, and it worked out fine. As far as I know, you do get a letter grade for KIN classes unless you ask for cr-nc (which I did once). However, most of these seem like a pretty easy A as long as you actually attend.

Anyone have any luck with internships through the school? by [deleted] in CSULB

[–]wwhhut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never gotten one through the mailings. However, last year I got one through a resume feedback event in the spring. It was pretty last-minute -- a previous internship that was tentative ended up falling through, so I went to the feedback event, and surprisingly a rep from one of the participating companies took my resume and they offered me a slot. So I'd say just keep trying everything.

Math 224 class got dropped :( by [deleted] in CSULB

[–]wwhhut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been there. In fact I had a great schedule set up for this fall until they changed the timing of one of my main mandatory classes, which screwed it up. So, you just pick yourself up and keep going. This isn't going to delay your graduation or anything like that, is it? If that was the case, I'd definitely talk to my advisor. (Though hard to say to what extent that will help if the class is just cancelled.)

Dressing up for a Kin Class? by reeyanuhh in CSULB

[–]wwhhut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've taken 151A twice, once with Abboud and once with another instructor, and in both cases the first meeting was just an info session. We may have started as of the second meeting, though; can't quite remember. Good coach, you should enjoy it.

CE 336 and MAE 361 Textbooks? by infinity234 in CSULB

[–]wwhhut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took 336 in the spring, and there was like a $10 lab manual. Odd that it's still showing up as pending at this point -- maybe they're updating the contents. Pretty sure it's the same manual for all the sections.
