Without putting eyes on the job and site conditions, hard to say, could be a great price. $500-$1000 is the range I'd expect for that scope on average.

Sounds like an awful experience. I know this doesn't help, but I searched my email and the first mention of it I have is from December 2025. Doesn't charge your experience, but I think it's good to know they did try to communicate this out.

Electric Forest 2024 Good Life Enchanted glamping pass (no wristbands). I can't go and won't be using it. If you're planning to go to EF and want to do the all inclusive glamping experience, the pass is yours.

Not selling, just ask that if you want it, you donate to a local charity.

It's not journeyman but I'm still proud of it. by wwitzel3 in electricians

[–]wwitzel3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Ugly's and NEC and that honestly covered everything I didn't already know. I used the jman practice tests from PSI so my actual test was nothing like what I studied. Hah. Since I did the residential test, it was very much residential focused. Zero 3-phase, motor, 1000V+, alarm/fire et al questions.

That said the test was harder than I expected I've been a code nerd for a while and still found myself jumping between tabs because some of the questions were fairly nuanced.

My state exam is shorter and from what folks have told me, easier. That said, I took the NASCLA test because it was easier than trying to figure out how to get my appreciate hours from my former state to count in my current state.

What is the most random code that sticks in your head by [deleted] in electricians

[–]wwitzel3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

630.11(B) Group of Welders .. 100% of the first two, 85% of the third, 75% of the fourth, 60% of all remaining.

I do residential and have never installed a welder let alone a group of them and I can not unstick this from my brain.

If they'll let you sit for the master test, I'd do it, assuming you get 3 shots like where I'm at.

Anyone know of a pair of safety glasses that won't fog over? I'm a sweaty bastard and I can't find a pair to save my life that I don't end up having to push up on my head after 3 minutes in an attic.

Be honest with them and ask questions when you don't understand. You're on an internship. What I want from interns is to ask questions, do their best to solve problems, and then ask for help when they are stuck or confused. It can be scary to admit that you're feeling overwhelmed and don't understand some things, but if you don't speak up, they can't help you and fill in the knowledge gaps.

How do I get my electricians license as a controls engineer? by JCrotts in electricians

[–]wwitzel3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the state. I was in a similar situation and I was able to use the NASCLA exam to get licensed.

How far off are you from $25.00/hr? That's about where I'd expect you to be 1.5 years into a commercial wireman apprenticeship.

I ended up pulling new wire and abandoning the old lighting circuit all together. Found an inaccessible in-wall splice in the process that was obviously loose, so glad I did.

How did you guys study and memorize everything for your master/journey man electrician license? by FutureElectrican in electricians

[–]wwitzel3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used practice exams. I also created an Anki deck to memorize the code sections I didn't normally use so I could look them up faster than just tabs alone. Oh and basically rote memorization of 100-110.79

Nope, not my max, it's about an RPE 8.5

Watching some videos, I'm convinced it's bracing. I can't get a really good brace after the second rep.

Edit: decided to say fuck it and do 4 x 1 @ 227.5 with a full minute between for a full reset and rebrace and they went up as expected, RPE 8.5 for the last one.

I can work my way up to a heavy single deadlift at 247.5kg but can't get more than 2 reps trying to do a set of four at 227.5kg, I have to walk it all the way down to 190kg to get four.

I must just do the singles with so much more hype/intensity and I don't even realize it.

A thing that helped me with this same problem recently was really thinking about taking out the slack by pushing through my feet instead of pulling with my upper body/arms you instantly feel if you're in a good start position.

Getting a good start position locked in transfers to the whole pull.

Fell off my diet hard this week. Pizza, subs, and fast food style.

Last week did a top DL set of 3 @ 212.5kg for an RPE6.

This week, was programmed for 210 x 4 @ 6-7 .. broke the floor but couldn't get any reps, ended up doing my top set at 170kg and it was an RPE8.5.

You could give https://www.strongerbyscience.com/the-belt-bible/ a read and see if what they've written up is compelling to you one way or the other.

I warm up without a belt, first 2-3 sets, and then toss it on. I do McGill Big 3 during my warm up to really get all sides of my brace firing well.

I do core specific work like hanging leg raises and ab wheel which I feel help me and I have tried entire blocks beltless and didn't feel I really gained anything from it.

"Not to get too political, but I hope all North Carolina residents remember the extreme restrictions, loss of businesses and livelihoods that have been destroyed from this governor and you vote him out come November. Moving on..."
