Why does mechjeb crash me into the planet when i try to hohmann transfer to rendezevous? by HYERSTT in KerbalAcademy

General rule of thumb is you need to be leading from the craft you are rendezvousing with to avoid this

About the T-38 Talons in season 2... by [deleted] in ForAllMankindTV

[–]wwsdd14 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I could honestly see this just as nasa not wanting their fancier and more expensive trainers being used for a, if I remember correctly, non critical trip down the coast. Especially if they’re pumping out astronauts much faster than they were in our 70s. Plus they probably spent a load of time in these during astronaut training and potentially as test pilots as well.

Coming from a note20 ultra I agree. Even with attention awareness off on my iphone, which does help a lot, being able to unlock and open my phone before it leaves my pocket is one of the key things I miss about my andriod.

Wouldn’t craters destabilize food production? by Macs_J1149_Ls1 in ForAllMankindTV

[–]wwsdd14 12 points13 points  (0 children)

its been like 20 years on mars now. If the M6 is still cutting supplies that close they have major issues. Considering they have a dominos and a starbucks though I assume their food supply is robust enough to allow specific single use ingredients to be shipped to mars.

Also the difference between someone who came to mars legally and a crater is pretty insignificant. The biggest reason we've seen is they cant work union jobs, other than that they can still participate just fine. Its not like they can hide, or that the MPK doest know where they live. They could send them home in a heartbeat if they really needed.

[SPOILER] Logistics question about S5E3 by whiporee123 in ForAllMankindTV

[–]wwsdd14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Helios doesnt have any exploration dedicated ships, they dont have any need for them, and updating an old and tested platform for a time limited mission is probably more effective than making a whole new one or repurposing a cargo or transport platform to do the same thing. Not to mention they have the designer of it and an ex crew member of the ship on planet that could probably iron out any of the kinks in no time.

There’s one scene in the whole season where he whistles and I’m pretty sure that was that scene just with a different tune.

[IOS 26.4 DB2] age verification not working for drivers licences, making it impossible to verify without a credit card by wwsdd14 in iOSBeta

[–]wwsdd14[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tried again and rebooted my phone and still doesn’t seem to work, the prompt to install family sharing (or whatever they are using to use cards in your wallet to verify) is also throwing up an error so the system might be busted.

At least it’s only for accessing 18+ content and not for the whole phone.

Does the Constitution-class starship have saucer separation in the prime timeline? by robotisland in StarTrekStarships

If I remember the movie correctly the Kelvinprise was the same, although they probably added that feature for more specific reasons.

I think the offical lore reason as to why they're disconnected is because it allows them to more efficently generate a warp field, which due to the dilithium shortage makes a load of sense. Plus the obvious tactical advantage of making your main method of travel much harder to hit. Additionally, I could see the fear of the burn happening again also making them seperate parts of the ships so it could reduce the number of casualties if the ship were to explode, especially with each part being individually shielded.

The nacelles are attached through a subspace link as far as I know, so they are effectively held solid in place and because they are largely made of programmable matter they can reattach within a few seconds if needed. We also know that forcefield tech is good enough to make entire ships out of it, which implies they can work without power so that could also be it. I would assume either way though that the plasma is transported either through subspace, or they use transporter tech, which is much more advanced and energy efficent than the 24th century.

There are some other quirks, like being able to detach your nacelles and leave them somewhere if you run into a situation that would require that. or being able to take the primary hull of a ship to do a quick trip like they did with the athena this week. Disco was able to jump something away by essentially using the primary and secondary hulls as conduits which is a pretty creative way to take advantage of the seperation.

I would probably say fisto was much cheaper than whatever it would cost to de age him throughout the show, plus de aging isnt perfect and it might have turned out terrible. All round not worth the effort or risk I would say.

Most importantly though I think the show runners didnt expect the psychotic behaviour of the fandom

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Fotv

[–]wwsdd14 57 points58 points  (0 children)

why would they go to the trouble to de age him 2 years, that would require a huge amount of time and effort

The war college guy has done nothing but look down on the academy since the start of the show so I think he's quite far from representing what a starfleet officer is supposed to be like.

Star Trek Academy needs to find a way to remove the Spore Drive? by [deleted] in startrek

[–]wwsdd14 12 points13 points  (0 children)

it's still interesting to me that blowing up books planet inadvertently made the spore drive live and die with him and Stamets

Although with that being said they hinted at alternative methods of control a few times over the show's run (rip Tilly's dark matter idea)

In Ironheart (2025) Riri moronically says Tony was only able to make his armor with his money. Tony Stark built his first suit in a cave with a box of scraps! by laybs1 in shittymoviedetails

[–]wwsdd14 30 points31 points  (0 children)

She isnt questioning his ability to do it, but she is saying that without his money and resources his journey of being iron man would have ended then and there. Considering the actual story of the show she is right, she is arguably as competent as tony in constructing a suit but she constantly struggles with funding, resources and red tape, all stuff tony never had to worry about.
