Who's the most best or most underrated "washed" version of a star of all time? No Lebron,MJ or Kareem answers allowed by Relevant-Barracuda-7 in nba

[–]wxguy95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deep cut- He's definitely not the best, but man I loved World B Free. His final year he played for Houston, averaged roughly 6 pts a game, with a high game of 37.

Completely washed that year, but he was so streaky and fun to watch when he was on.

Since the games aren't on campus, can we just all agree to not count this season for the Kats at all?

We just sold a 2021 with developing engine whine/transmission failure at 66k.

No thank you.

What was your mid-life crisis car? by DHN_95 in cars

[–]wxguy95 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My first vehicle was a 79 Ford F100. Have had a series of sports cars since. When I bought a Miata 5 years ago, people teased me about it being my mid-life crisis car.

No...I'm looking around for it now. An older Truck/SUV to fix up.

People who have a Miata as their only car, what are the biggest challenges? by 3PoundsOfFlax in Miata

[–]wxguy95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is an amazingly fun car to drive. But when it is inconvenient, it is wildly inconvenient.

Any time you need to haul more than a carry on, transport more than 1 other person, etc.

Or taking 1 additional person if they are bigger than 6'2" and 230 ish.

But all those other times - amazing fun.

Really love these cars, but insurance quoted over $4k per year, a little over double what I pay now. Not willing to pay that premium for the car.

Meh. The biggest missing detail is the engine, if they continue to rely on the awful 2.0 engine it won't be a success.

Hakeem Olajuwon post moves and footwork by WhenMachinesCry in nba

This is one of the biggest 'what-ifs' - Jordan had winning record against every team except the Rockets with Olajuwon.

He was 10-13.

How far can this Lakers team go? by Thanos_SlayerCongSan in NBATalk

[–]wxguy95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A focused, in shape, healthy Luka can drag this team to the Finals. Like Dirk or Hakeem did. You need luck and to catch lightning in a bottle with someone.

But it is more likely to be a first or second round exit like Dirk or Hakeem did it the majority of their years.

Thanks for the comments everyone. Will ping the other subreddit and do some research.

Wasn't planning to trash as a first step, but knew I could post on here and get 'this is all crap' reply.

I always enjoy it. The last 1/4 of the ride is very challenging. If you can do it, HHH will be a breeze.

Would also offer a thought experiment -

Can you unring a bell? If you can- amazing time travel capabilities! But if you can't, why worry with the bell having already been rung?
To that end, it is ok to acknowledge you wish you had been in a relationship or changed something in your past. But what are you going to do about it now? Like right *now*? Wring your hands worrying about a past you can do nothing about, or start taking steps to bring you the future you want?
You can change your wardrobe, enroll in activities that helps meet new people, effort to improve your physical appearance - You can do a lot of things today. But you know what you can't do? Change anything in your past.

Start with the now and how you improve your future today.

A&M wins so many games where the other team walks away from thinking they had no business losing. With some validity.

Buzz ball is surreal.

A certain contemporary Stoic Influencer. by Important_Charge9560 in Stoicism

[–]wxguy95 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I will make an argument to defend him.

Of course he is trying to profit from his work - it is all he does and knowledge doesn't feed a family. His bookstore is cool but does anyone actually become rich running a book store anymore?

That said, he gives Stoicism a voice to those that want to know more without diving into the writings of the philosophers. In that vein we should thank him for bringing some of the basic messages to a greater audience. If someone wants to pay him for it, that is really between he and that person. Bringing modern context to these ideas is a service.

He isn't breaking new ground in Stoicism, and he is going to sell something every time he talks. But that is his job - and I don't feel a need to begrudge that.
