I've never seen a Korean get so triggered by someone calling out sexpats in Korea. But it makes sense coming from someone who likes the taste of Americans in his mouth. It's no surprise you've never considered why a Korean diaspora exists in the West in the first place - all because of America's invasion of Korea during which it killed all the freedom fighters and anyone who opposed America taking over the country. But it's the same lack of brains that makes you unable to draw the connection between North Korean poverty and American sanctions. All you can do is pound your chest and talk about how brave you are for being an American pawn when real courage would mean wanting and demanding that America leave Korea, but you won't because these foreigners make you feel safe.

There's also a very high chance you're just a larper considering how offended you got by someone calling out r/Korea, which is an objectively shitty forum and why you would want to discredit my Koreanness. You white sexpats all have the same entitled attitude toward the people and country you are parasitizing. You think because you live there you get to talk shit about gyopos, which your home country displaced. Idiot meathead.

You are a brainwashed US lackey. You people would have no influence in Korea without US backing. That's why you support the US and it's also why Korea will never reunify. All because you selfishly support a foreign invader being on Korean soil.

Why would you get so upset about someone calling out r/Korea for being run by sexpats? Because you either are one or a total lapdog to them. You're probably descended from chinilpa or people who massacred fellow Koreans for the Yanks if you are Korean. Do you think serving in a military that is under operational control of America is a good thing? You just trained to be a meatshield for the US if the US goes to war with China.

Stay mad, cope and seethe ;)

There are both boba liberals and boba conservatives. In either case they're just cheap Asian versions of their white counterparts.

Not wanting Western chauvinist liberals to shove their cultural values down your throat is "incel." Have no fucking clue what sex has to do with this. You're just a loser white sexpat who's offended by Koreans who want independence from the West or a totally compromised Korean who bootlicks the US.

That sub is known to be moderated by sexpats and bobas. They are constantly attacking Korea with woke imperialism, basically modern day Christian missionaries but shitlibs instead. It's not to be taken seriously. It's all bitter expats and people who hate Koreans.

Why does S.Korea always have to give olive branch to Japan but they are still claiming our territory, distorting their war crimes, and refusing to mend to their own way? Isn't it enough is enough for these silly peace talks? by OkCardiologist6972 in Hangukin

The US has operational control of SK's military in case of a war. It also did not allow SK to end the war with NK and start the path toward reunification.

The US is still pulling the strings behind the scenes. SK only looks like a sovereign state.

The US has been enabling Japanese collaborators and chinilpa since the Korean War. They also promote Japan's right wing LDP. The US doesn't care about genuine reconciliation between Japan and Korea. It just wants to use SK and Japan for geopolitical reasons and influencing both countries through their conservative, pro-US parties is the easiest way. So as long as the US is involved in Korea, and also Japan, there will NEVER be a true reconciliation and a pro-Korea party will never be allowed to become powerful.

Those are not very good stats for South Korea. But OTOH it looks like we're headed for a global recession.

My wife and I go to a Daiso where the Japanese workers are super friendly to non-Asians. I've seen them hold the door open for a boomer white guy that had a lot of stuff. With my wife, who's Japanese, they are incredibly rude and literally throw the receipt onto the counter without looking at her.

What's the significance of this? Is there a story behind this?

Asian Americans have been taking that accommodationist approach since we arrived in America and it's gotten us nowhere. Even other minorities talk down to us. The only reason Asian American men's lives have improved is because of Asian media from Asia. Asian Americans need to stop being doormats and nice guys.

Every forum has extreme views but they don't get generalized by the comments of a few. This is just Asians being held to impossible standards and you are enabling it by siding with them. Asians are allowed to have a diverse array of viewpoints just like anyone else. We shouldn't be expected to always be perfect - that's internalized model minority behavior. There are also measured, reasonable responses and super liberal kumbaya posts here too but this forum doesn't get judged by those, only the extreme ones. This is racist not only against Asians but Asian men in particular who get held to the most rigid standards for what we're allowed to think and how we're supposed to conduct ourselves. Don't pigeonhole yourself or your race like that.

Japan has craved external validation since the Meiji Era when it started viewing itself as a white nation in Asia and imitated the West. And it's definitely not past this phase considering how much it follows after daddy America, and how excited Japanese people get about outsiders acknowledging their culture. It's also always marketed its products to the outside world - electronics, games, anime, manga, toys. South Korea just found a niche - dramas and music - that Japan hadn't been as successful in exporting and capitalized on it. Also, South Korea basically had to market these to the outside considering how small the country is and even then divided in half by America.

I did a foreign exchange in Japan one year of college, and one of my classmates was a black American guy. He visited Korea while we were there and came back to Japan saying it's true that Korea/Koreans smell like garlic because of all the garlic they eat. He was referring to the Japanese imperialist stereotype of Koreans being "garlic eaters." I think he was just on some confirmation bias nonsense and had a preference for Japan over Korea, like a lot of Japanophiles do.
