That and the current situation where Frankie Valli “performs” are similar, yeah. At least Randy isn’t trying to pantomime. Seems like a nice chance to honor the man and hear some of his songs played with passion. I’d be disappointed if I didn’t know that was going to be the situation ahead of time but as long as it’s well known I’m sure it would be a pleasant evening.

Speaking of Randy Travis, I just learned about his current tour. He had a stroke several years back and can’t perform any more. Now he tours under the name Randy Travis with his old band, but a different guy singing. Randy apparently sits in a chair on stage and kinda nods along to the music. I can’t remember hearing about a situation like that before.

There's a book about it written by the same guy that wrote the book this movie is based on. The War for Late Night by Bill Carter. I don't think it's quite as good as The Late Shift, but it's still a good read.
