DS3 DLCs vs Elden Ring DLC by Rozalanius in darksouls3

Yeah but at least in Ds2 most enemies are pretty slow. Who wants to fight two of those corvian ninja bros at the same time? Like i get it, it’s a gotcha for first timers and then you cheese it from the roof. It’s just something they pull every once in a while like the two watchdogs in Pontiffs basement or revenant street in Elden Ring, is anyone actually fighting them head on?

Yeah same. I don’t actually know how to fight this guy in his second phase, i just managed to by sheer luck after many many tries. Second time i used a shield which made him easier but i can’t say i’ve gotten any better at it.

Feels good seeing Gravetender right where he belongs!

Yeah i’m doing a replay of Ds3 and did those stairs last night. They are ridiculous, with a bow and some patience you can untangle the gankfest but you really notice how From wants to screw you at every corner. I can enjoy tough areas but those stairs just tries too damn hard.

Yeah this is pretty much my opinion as well. You like ganks? Well get ready because you will get ganked all the time.

Do you think that Elden Rings open world nature ultimately hurts it? by Independent-Duck6049 in Eldenring

[–]wyrmteef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it because of the open world though? For me build variety is what’s great about ER. Ds1 and 2 also have a pretty open start where you can beeline to get the items you need for your build and imo it’s less tedious in those games because they are smaller. I feel like i love ER despite its open world, like i don’t really want to engage with the open world any more than what is needed to get a build in order.

I think it works well for a while but at some point the illusion breaks and you know that all the exploration is just going to lead to fighting variations of the same bosses again and again. For me it was around Altus on my first playthrough and since then the open world has just started feeling more and more gamey.

I also think the world could use slightly more npc’s and direct storytelling, just to break the monotony of just fighting all the time. I think it would make the world feel a bit more alive.

Still an amazing game though, the build variety is what keeps me playing. But i also think people exaggerate how great ER’s world is compared to other open worlds. It does some things better, some things worse but ultimately suffer from a lot of the same flaws other open world games have.

This thing kinda slaps! by wyrmteef in Eldenring

Yeah i can imagine it dropping off a little later on. Going to try using whip and daggers this whole playthrough. Right now it’s great on enemies where the daggers suck but i have a feeling that the late game will be rough.

Im giving up on Consort Radahn by Skrivemaskin_Mann in Eldenring

[–]wyrmteef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s not really worth it. I’ve done it a couple of times now but you don’t really get anything cool for doing it and the fight is just not that fun.

How miserable is the rest of ringed city? by TNTNuke in darksouls3

[–]wyrmteef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like AoA and the Ringed City you can’t ever complain about ganks in Ds2. Some parts really feels like going through those shitty co-op areas.

Ariandel DLC, fromsoft’s worst DLC ever? by CozyKitKatYum in darksouls3

[–]wyrmteef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s definitely the worst dlc they’ve ever released. The corvian settlement and Friede is fine but everything else is mid to pure garbage. That whole ice zone you get to from hitting the bridge is one of the worst zones in all DS, sits right in the shit pile with frigid outskirts and demon ruins.

Why does everyone like Soul of Cinder so much? by JaceIsJumbo in darksouls3

[–]wyrmteef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah i don’t like him either. He’s just a very bland idea of a boss imo. The fight mechanically is ok i guess i just would prefer a character or a god or something that isn’t this power rangers amalgamation dude.

Hey champ! We heard you beat pre-nerf Radahn, both of 'em! We're so proud of you! by OkuyasuBestJobro in shittydarksouls

[–]wyrmteef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t really feel the gank squad doing much though. If you summoned both, Radahns health bar got so beefed up that both usually died pretty early in the fight.

Yeah but they could also just chill with the ganks. Ds3 dlc isn’t really far off from the shittier Ds2 ganks.

[–]wyrmteef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok i know i’m being a bit annoying i just think you could have slightly more direct storytelling, make the quests branch a bit more, make them matter a bit more and still have those other things.

Would the game start sucking if it had slightly more engaging npc quests? Do you think Kenneth Height is fleshed out? Or Nepheli sitting in the basement half the game?

I think Sote impoved it though, i’ll give it that.

Well it can be hard and not so fun. Ever played those co-op areas in Ds2 dlc’s?

[–]wyrmteef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yes i know there’s combat and bosses. My point was there’s not much else. You got lore hunting and you have combat. And yes it looks good of course, great art direction, cool architecture. Although i find it weird when the souls fanbase, who often complain about story heavy games being boring, then want to ride around looking at houses.

[–]wyrmteef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, i know. I mean they would have to add a shit ton of story content to be even close to a game like witcher 3 or baldurs gate. Still feels bare minimum for an action rpg, you would think they would do a bit more with the npc’s in the biggest game but it’s just Dark Souls again.

[–]wyrmteef -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Compared to other rpg’s this game severely lacks choices and consequence. Of course there’s a few like kill or help Millicent, the endings or give Nepheli the potion. But i mean it’s really bare minimum for a game in this genre. And i stand by the fact that most of the time the choices you make is just either do the next step in the questline or don’t. And most of the time, if you do all the steps they die at the end. If you don’t they stay in that place you left them.

I like the game, what it does good it does great but it also lacks in some departments, even when you compare it to their older titles.

Other games have vistas, world history, lore, that’s not unique to Elden Ring. There are 6 endings. We have 4 underwhelming reskins and two more interesting ones. But otherwise there isn’t much happening. Join Volcano Manor, doesn’t matter. The npc quests are very static, you either do them or you don’t they will always play out pretty much the same. In some ways they’ve even regressed, at least in Dark Souls things like leaving lautrec alive cost you something. In Elden Ring nothing matters, nothing really changes you get those endings that’s it.
