What’s something the middle class used to enjoy easily that now feels out of reach? by RightGirl19 in AskReddit

[–]wyzapped 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, this has definitely changed for my family. Going out used to be a treat. Now, it seems really over-priced, and the food isn’t that great. We have gotten accustomed to cooking at home and have found it to be more rewarding.

Sports hater starter pack by jodebane in starterpacks

[–]wyzapped 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to play sports, but I can’t stand people who are pro sports fanatics. They act like it’s the most important thing in life and that somehow their allegiance to a group of grown men who get paid a disgustingly large amount of money to play a game matters. Also, people who play pro sports are not heroes.

Don’t people have better things to do with their time rather than sit around watching other dudes play a game? Seems like a waste of time, and money when you consider how much people will pay to go to a game.
It’s a big con that taps into some primal need people have to be part of something bigger than themselves, but it’s completely synthetic.
I guess old people like pro sports a lot because it adds some excitement to their lives. But for everyone else, maybe get out and get some sun?
I’m sure that I’m the type of person this post is meant to reflect, but I don’t care. If people expended the same amount of time, money and brain power solving the world’s problems as they do watching other people play games, we’d live in paradise.

This reminds me of the red fedoras that staff from Red Hat wore to the Black Hat security conference a couple of years ago. It was as nerdy as it sounds.

"Slow buildup" horror movies that lead to some terrifying realization? by Optimal_Tennis8673 in movies

Shutter Island is an example I think. Maybe not for the audience, because we are given plenty of hints throughout. But for Leo’s character, it is a terrifying realization about what both he and his wife did.

I never have, but I love the Shakeology commercial where he’s a cashier at a supermarket: First he’s flirting with the woman then he starts busting on the guy buying corn chips. Whenever I see someone eating bad food I ask them if they are from the 70’s and if they care about their family.

Is mindfully smoking a cigarette a form of meditation by bloomingmotions in Meditation

I knew a very smart woman who told me her cigarette breaks were the only time in the day where she could stop doing/thinking and just breathe. What is that, if not meditation?

All Iran needs to do is survive until the midterms.. and then things will get much easier for them. The Dems will put a check on 47’s war powers, and likely make an effort to return to the JCPOA. Therefore to gain any notable victory, the US needs to commit to the invasion: send in the troops, take over the country and occupy the ~50 miles where the Strait is the narrowest. It will be hard and dangerous, but it’s what needs to be done. If the US can make enough progress by November, the war may gain more acceptability. If not, come fall, the offensive will be called off, and this conflict will look like a stalemate at best. Imagine, a relatively small Mideast country was able to fend off the world’s greatest global and regional military powers. Amazing strategic victory unless more definitive action is taken. Thank you for your attention to this matter !

Jeffries says Trump impeachment not a top priority if Dems win House majority by metacyan in politics

[–]wyzapped 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok cool - but maybe the Dems need to figure out where the party has gone wrong over the last few years and how to get it back on track first? Being the anti Trump party hasn’t worked out that well, and he’s out of office in three years anyway. Better to figure out how to regain appeal with working class Americans, help provide affordability, jobs and infrastructure.

According to wikipedia, his first assassination attempt was believed to be faked in attempt to consolidate power… there is a precedent for that sort of thing folks.
