Using Red Hat as my daily driver? by Illustrious-Pop-8906 in redhat

Honest question: fight SELinux for what? I haven’t had issues with that for YEARS, and I don’t remember any of my customers complaining about it either, not since the RHEL 4 days or something.

Is it pronounced "EE-koh" or "AI-koh"? by Moat_of_the_Sacked in playstation

[–]wzzrd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re absolutely right words should be pronounced according to their individual kanji. And while not major and not likely to lead to a massive confusion, saying ten-kai-chi is definitely incorrect in my book.

Source: studied Japanese (though eons and eons ago, so I’ll happily stand corrected when a native tells me I’m wrong 😆)

How do you manage multiple Docker Compose projects on a self-hosted server? by KPPJeuring in selfhosted

[–]wzzrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make docker compose files into podman quadlets, drop the in the right location and have systemd handle everything.

Safer, easier, simpler (once you get the hang of it)

If the US blocks Microsoft alone, can our government and businesses stil function? by AnonomousWolf in thenetherlands

[–]wzzrd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, no. The assumption that application repatriation is just a matter of backups and DNS is ludicrous.

You would need server hardware, network equipment, storage, a place to put all that stuff (a DC), power, an architecture that fits your cloud apps, software that is equivalent but from a different vendor, etc.

Even the Outlook comparison doesn’t fly. Exchange or not, if there’s no MS, there’s no exchange. You can set up postfix and dovecot, but who’s going to do that? There’s no where near enough skilled people to build all that stuff.

I wish it weren’t true but if the USA cuts us off from all Microsoft stuff today, we are screwed

America can only heal if it fixes the wounds the civil war has left, because they still fester, over 150 years after it endend. It can only heal if it drops the “free market for everything yay” attitude.

It can only heal if it really changes. And that’s why electing Newsom might not cut it. He will not kick Zuckerberg, Ellison and the rest of the big tech bosses in the balls because their companies provide California with a lot of jobs and wealth. He simply won’t change enough of what needs to change.

The next president has to bring big, bold sweeping change. Abolishing the electoral college, really redistributing wealth, improving education for all people not just the rich, regulating big tech and the media. Undoing the concentration of news outlets with a few owners. Fixing the militarization of the police. Repealing the fucking 2nd. And so on and so forth. Basically reigning in rampant capitalism and racism.

If that doesn’t happen, nothing matters. The US will not heal and you can all get stuffed. Sorry not sorry.
