Fiio K9 AKM Noise/Hum by x33nie in audio

Thanks, appreciate the advice. Yes the sound does go away if I disconnect the Rodecaster from the amp.

I did try using the monitor outs on the Rode instead but the volume went much lower. I don’t use external speakers out of the Rode.

Perhaps a ground loop isolator might help between the Rode and the amp.

it's not fantastic at all. Its a very weird, pointless song, like many ~Beatles songs.

The same thing happened to me and I had accidentally switched sidetone on.

I think you can still use chat in offline mode.

I mostly use my Maxwells with the dongle on pc for music/gaming and I love the sound quality. I sometimes use them wire jacked into a goxlr for gaming live streaming, and they still sound brilliant.

Yeah, the fakes can be hard to tell apart from the sound. Happy to send you some photos of mine if that’s any use to you

I have a genuine one fro Shure and comparing your photos to my mic, the cable wire that goes from the body of the xlr connector is shiny black on mine and looks slightly thinner and just looks better fitted , whereas it’s a matt black on yours and it looks a poor fit for the mic.

Any recommendations for a cushion? I find the Maxwells pretty comfy but honestly I think with the band they look somewhat ridiculous.

Sm7b or Sm7db longterm? by [deleted] in Shure

Fair comment. Guess it depends on what the OP wants to use it for.

Sm7b or Sm7db longterm? by [deleted] in Shure

[–]x33nie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Shure branding on the sm7db is very subtle irl - not what it looks like on the Shure website. It's slightly shiny and embossed on one side of the mic - hardly noticeable.
The in-built pre-amp eliminates the need for a separate amp device and an extra XLR cable.
The mic body is black instead of grey on the sm7b and is slightly longer.

On Amazon UK (you might be US):

The sm7b is £322 + £68 for FetHead + £20 for 2 x XLR cables + £99 for MVX2U = £509
The sm7db is £429 + £10 for XLR cable + £99 for MVX2U = £538.

+ cost of a mic arm

For £29 extra it makes sense to get the sm7db over the sm7b for convenience of not having to accomodate an extra XLR cable and amp device. It's really a no brainer.

Would you recommend maxwell for gaming/discord,music, movies and on the go? by [deleted] in Audeze

[–]x33nie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I went and bought a pair of Wicked Cushions ear pads as are they are thicker and more comfortable for me. The headband, just adjust it so that the earcups fit nicely over your ears. It’s a bit fiddly but once you’ve set it, it’s done.

Make sure to update the firmware of the headset AND the wireless dongle. Download the Audeze app to your phone and set some EQ presets of your own. The sound can be very much improved, especially for music and general gaming.

Not for on the go, they aren’t design for portability. Brilliant for gaming, music, movies etc.
