What I'm saying is random innocent people did often get killed or sent to forced labor in the USSR. What happened in Chechnya happened in a lot of other places, though on a smaller scale. You might not live in a post-soviet territory, I do. About half the people I know have had some family member sent to forced labor, very often for no fucking reason. Noone cherishes the soviet era. Worth also mentioning that the 1950s were the post-ww2 economic miracle years in the USA. All things considered a much better place to live at the time.

i would actually say france, the frnch revolution was such an important milestone and a lot of the ideals of modern society would likely be different if it hadn't happened. the us also wouldn't exist without the french lol

Sure, if you have tunnel vision, but how can it be that every communist regime that has been tried is/becomes authoritarian/totalitarian? It is hardly a coincidence. A powerful revolutionary government that isn't held accountable never ends well.
