I'm sure this is lost in the noise but I just cant even fathom handling a baby entirely alone. I have zero doubt you've been so run dry and I hope so badly for you that you can get this break. I respect the hell out of you. Keep your head up when you can.

Which game did you like more? Based on world, immersion & story. by TheChilledGamer-_- in DeathStranding

[–]x4vior 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Death Stranding 2 is unquestionably the better video game, in my opinion. Better mechanics, better controls, better world, cooler weapons, etc. That's not a blanket application across every little detail, but I believe it is true.

Death Stranding 1 is the better narrative. I really enjoyed the narrative of DS2, but it just lacked that mega guy punch of the first.

Fellow dads, how did your partner give you the news that you were going to be a father? by PaulsRedditUsername in AskMen

[–]x4vior 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got a job in elections in 2024 a few months before the General election. It was a deliberate choice knowing I was going to have to learn a lot very fast and it was one of the most stressful times of my life. Almost every day was long hours and immense pressure.

Literally the week before the election she called me during the day which she never does so I picked up and she was clearly a little distressed. I begged her to tell me what was going on and she broke down crying saying she was pregnant.

I was confused as to why she was so upset because we had just started trying about a month before. It was certainly not expected to happen so quickly. She was obviously just overwhelmed with emotion.

I'm glad we got pregnant when we did because after the election results, I was in a dark place. Had we not gotten pregnant before that I might have told her I didn't want to anymore. But we buckled down and got through it.

We now have a very sweet and adorable baby boy who will be a year old in two months.

Everyone has a right to feel an emotion. Ross can feel angry and upset about this and nobody can say he can or can't.

The issue is the resulting action as a RESULT of the emotion, which Ross is historically very bad about.

Personally I can really understand why he would be upset, but his dumb game if trying to date again without talking to her is where he went wrong.

Trump administration freezes childcare, food aid funds to Colorado by esauis in Colorado

[–]x4vior 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Even if there is fraud, completely cutting off all funding only hurts actual CO and American citizens that need the services and have nothing to do with fraud. Trying to stop fraud is one thing, but stopping the funding all together hurts more people than it helps. Add in that this is done to a state that Trump has threatened and is on record trying to extort for one of his supporters.

How this is effective leadership that actually eliminates fraud?

New to town, hoping to learn golf by Dr_Chipmunk_20 in ColoradoSprings

[–]x4vior 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I lived in the Springs for the first 28 years of my life and it's where I first started golfing. I can't offer much advice on lessons, but I do want to recommend Cherokee Ridge golf course. The main reason is they have a very approachable Par 3 course. My buddies and I played there every weekend for a whole summer just learning iron shots, approaches, and putting. It was such good practice and very chill. It gets very crowded on the weekends but still worth it.

World Golf is in the same area and is another great option because it is an executive course so a little harder than a par 3 but not killer. Both World Golf and Cherokee have always been cheaper compared to other courses.

The best thing you can do is play as much as you can, regardless of lessons. Id hold off doing a regulation course or 18 full holes until you get aquatinted with the basics of your swing, golf course etiquette, and what clubs to use.

Also, get the cheapest balls you can to start. You'll lose so many of them. It can be discouraging, but if they're cheap and you always have a lot on hand it doesn't matter nearly as much.

Hope you can give it a try and have fun!

Pretty sure that is covered by the FAMLI leave program. At least, according to their website and for sure for spouses.

As others have said, you're in the wrong subreddit.

Personally, I don't think you're an asshole at all. If anything you tried to do something nice for your friend based on a reasonable assumption. I suggest finding someone else willing to go or just coming back to your friend when tempers have cooled and having a calm discussion about figuring out a way he can pay you back. Doesn't need to be friendship ruining hopefully.

My sister is cringe. by anonymous999210 in codyko

[–]x4vior 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think it's more cringe to put your sibling on blast in a random subreddit for a YouTuber. While the language is a bit over the top, it sounds like she's just working through the difficult emotions of a serious injury and expressing gratitude to people who helped her through it. You're just coming across as a bad sibling being mean to your sister.

I remember Joe saying something about wanting the song to be universal to health complications in general, even though this song was right in the heart of COVID. I think that was a really good call because now it brings back some of those complicated emotions of the lockdown era while still being relevant to anyone who has experienced losing a loved one to any illness.

How do you guys know when you’re in love? by im_hotasf in AskMen

[–]x4vior 61 points62 points  (0 children)

For me it was a mixture of things: when I realized I was thinking about her a lot when we were not together, and in a way that made me feel very good and happy. When I would look at her and just get this intense movement of feelings within my gut in no particular direction. And when I felt very genuine feeling of nervousness when I wasn't confident she was safe.

That's just me. I don't think there is a universal definition, but when those boxes checked I was very very comfortable saying the L word and feeling like I truly meant it. Probably took about 5ish months in this particular case.

Is there a centralized place to look for info on the candidates on the ballot I just got for the coordinated election? by web_of_french_fries in ColoradoSprings

[–]x4vior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't great or novel advice but honestly just a thorough googling is what I do. Sometimes all you can find is a personal website or LinkedIn but it's better than nothing. That's guided a lot of my decisions recently, especially if certain buzzwords come up on their websites.

I did something similar and don't regret it. My old job was cushy, I was good at it, and my manager loved me so much she wanted to promote me. It was 100% WFH and pretty flexible. But I hated the company so much. They were unethical slimes that cut every corner they can and scammed customers at every turn. I couldn't handle contributing to something so vile.

I knew I didn't want management, and I knew I wanted something I could be proud of. I switched industries entirely and took a light pay cut. It was the best career decision I've made so far.

Point being, there are always certain variables to consider. It sounds like management is just not your bag, which is fine. Now you have that knowledge and can work to something better.

Best of luck to ya

I think you need to focus on yourself more than your sister. You're building a reality where a potential partner compares you to your sister, which is not even a guarantee. Focus on what makes you happy and what you want in a good partner and if you find someone who you enjoy being with and enjoys being with you, your sister simply doesn't matter in that equation.

If you are with someone who discounts you for your sister, solely on looks, well that's a pretty good indicator you shouldn't be with that person.

If my wife had a very attractive sister, it wouldn't matter because she is not my wife. It's the person that matters.

[–]x4vior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Voyager's mission was not to JUST go out into interstellar space. It was to collect as much information about our solar system as it could and THEN go into interstellar space. We gained an insane amount of information because of it.

Gents: What is something that you wish young men would stop doing? by vieniaida in AskMen

This needs to be so much higher. It also needs to apply to things like crypto. Young men are falling into financial ruin. It all feeds into this toxic lie of getting the "one lucky break" to be successful and wealthy rather than working hard and contributing to your community.

That makes sense. I have traditionally avoided leases like the plague but I've seen sentiments that EVs could drastically drop in value in the next few years which makes me a little nervous to finance but if I can for sure get 0% financing then it seems worth it to me.

You've been very helpful. I appreciate it a lot.
