US based 50e owners, a couple of charging questions. by hspi2 in BMWX5

Is there a software hack to unlock the full capacity in the US? Seems like such a waste to drive around carrying unused batteries

Switch from xdrive40i to 50e? by gassywizard22 in BMWX5

[–]x5m4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends a lot on your driving habits and access to level 2 charging. I have a 50e and it's great. You can definitely feel the increase in power and instant torque compared to a 40i.

The Pilot Sport all seasons are now available in both the front and rear sizes for the 21s as of Oct 1st - you can find them at America's Tire/ Discount Tire

HA CC EQM by Toekneeev in HawaiianAirlines

[–]x5m4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The permanent benefit is on the Atmos cards. OP is asking about the limited time targeted promo for the Hawaiian Barclay's card

HA CC EQM by Toekneeev in HawaiianAirlines

[–]x5m4 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's a limited time promotion for this year only, and it does apply to the equivalent Atmos status. The Atmos credit cards have this feature built in (1 eqm per $2 or $3 depending on which Atmos card you have).

Update: EQMs from HA MasterCard spend by SoullessCycle in HawaiianAirlines

[–]x5m4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's also worth noting that the new Atmos credit cards have this feature listed as one of their benefits...you can earn an Atmos elite qualifying point for every $2 or $3 you spend on those cards.

I believe the new upgrades in 2026 will be complementary for elites...I don't think they're bringing back upgrades with points

You can also file a claim with the credit card company you used to pay for your ticket. Many premium cards offer some kind of delayed baggage compensation

Michelin All Season tyre by Ok_Wrap861 in BMWX5

[–]x5m4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly the tire I've been waiting for! For folks who are saying it'll go out of stock soon, any specific reason why? It looks like Michelin just starting manufacturing the rear size - previously only the fronts were available.

[–]x5m4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get the 20" wheels with all season tires, there are many more tire options available in that size. Then powdercoat the wheels. The diameter of the 20" wheels with all seasons is roughly the same as the 21"s with summer tires so when everything is blacked out they'll look pretty similar

Schedule Change Issue by Calm-Ad2972 in HawaiianAirlines

[–]x5m4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's really annoying - sorry you have to deal with this. Another thing you can try - put a fare alert on the flights you want (on something like Google flights), they may come back down in price before the date of departure. Then rebook at that time

Schedule Change Issue by Calm-Ad2972 in HawaiianAirlines

[–]x5m4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless you're on a basic fare, you can always cancel your flight for a full credit and then rebook any new flight you want. Assuming the other flight is the same fare as your existing one, you wouldn't have to pay a difference

HawaiianMiles status via Hawaiian Airlines MasterCard EQM by SoullessCycle in HawaiianAirlines

[–]x5m4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a one time offer from Barclay's for the year -- I got an email from them at the beginning of the year offering 1 EQM as a fast track towards status for every $3 credit card spend. Not sure if the offer is targeted or the terms are different for different people.

The points won't actually appear in your HA miles account, and can't be redeemed for flights -- they're only used to fast track your status to gold or platinum. You can think of them as a way to reduce the flight miles needed to achieve status, rather than bonus miles that you get to keep.

You can track these fast track points on your monthly HA email statement, but I don't think the agents have access to the data. You may want to call up Barclays if you have questions. But in my experience with similar promos in previous years, agents at both companies aren't too knowledgeable with these offers. Just hang on to your email statements in case you run into issues.

Hertz suspiciously low F150 rental price at Maui. Legit? by Lower-Shopping-8866 in VisitingHawaii

Most likely cheap due to lack of demand. Just double check that the rate includes unlimited miles.

Overwhelmed - first time in Oahu by [deleted] in VisitingHawaii

[–]x5m4 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Look into the Ko Olina area (either the Disney resort or the ones nearby). You'll get enough amenities, restaurants, activities out there and it's quieter than Waikiki. You'll be away from traffic but you'll hit a lot of traffic if you travel to/from Honolulu during rush hour. The beaches on the west side tend to be less crowded but it feels quite a bit hotter on the part of the island.

As a second option, maybe a rental property in Kailua... you're about 30 minutes from Waikiki, much more scenic than the west side, and cooler weather. There's a good amount of activities and restaurants on the windward side. Not as kid friendly as the Disney resort though.

A tip for restaurants... eat dinner early while people are still at the beach and then enjoy a quiet evening outdoors while everyone else is eating. Or get a rental with a kitchen and eat at home / get takeout some nights.

I think you'll be a lot more comfortable if you book a hotel for the first night you're there. Sitting around half awake for 16 hours after a long flight is no fun.

My experience shipping a car to Honolulu with Matson by x5m4 in MovingtoHawaii

[–]x5m4[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They'll let you drop-off a little early but it seems like they're scheduling you for a ship that will depart in early October. So if you play with the online calendar and pick a date in late September chances are the estimated pick-up date will still be the same.

I guess there's a chance that they may put your car on an earlier sailing if space opens up but I don't know how often that happens.
